I know it's an old grill/smoker my great aunt had for a long time. It's extremely heavy and I think made of porcelain. I don't see any brand labels on it besides some Japanese (I think) writing on the top.

Have you tried asking it? Be polite, though.

It kind of looks like those smokers called the “Big Green Egg” maybe it’s an older model or a similar style but different manufacturer? Looks cool!

It’s either an old Kamado grill or an urn. Check to see if there’s ash inside of it.

    Wait…

Great for smoking brisket! Plenty of videos on how to do that. Great find

Post a picture to Reddit. I’ll bet someone knows.

Looks like a grill. Hope this helps 🫡

It’s a dinosaur egg that’s been converted into a reusable funerary urn

It’s an old kamado which is similar to the Big Green Egg. Great for smoking ribs!

I’m sorry to hear about the passing of your relative. I understand why they charged you so much to store the urn. I’m sure your family member must have been larger than life.

  10. I was visiting a buddy back in my twenties, and a friend of his had just gotten one of these.  He invited a bunch of people over for burgers, like at 2:00 in the afternoon.  He started cooking, and I swear to god everyone was trashed by 7:00- I had to walk my pal home and he passed out, so his gf took me to see Gladiator.  I never ate that night, and I wonder if those burgers are done yet?

  11. Its a legit original Komado! This could even be one from Japan captured or brought back after WW2. The portable Komado like these were used by the military.

The Asian writing on it makes me think it is one of the original kamado smokers that the big green egg was based off of. There is an interior shell just below the grate, and as long as that is not broken, that bad boy is ready to use. That was a very expensive smoker in its time. There are more affordable brands now, but I seem to remember those being close to $2k back in the day.

Join some big green egg forums for tips on use, you can make all kinds of great food on those. I’ve been cooking on one for about 15 years and I swear by them.

It’s an Imperial Kamado. I have this exact same one. They are the original Kamado that were made in Japan. Just fyi, they’re not meant to get as hot as a BGE or Kamado Joe.

Look like it use to be a dryer for clay bit someone turned it into a make shift bbq grill

Is there ant hieroglyphs on it? That might give you a clue to its age

It looks like a retro version of a Big Green Egg, which is basically a ceramic version of a Weber and pretty amazing to cook on. Very efficient.

My S24 ultra AI says vintage BGE. Likely from Japan circa 1964 ish.

Did rita repulsa come out when you found this on the moon and decided to open it?

No question about it. Vintage Big Green Egg.
