Hello everyone, recently I’ve run into some weird temp issues on my GMG Ledge Prime pellet grill. The temp stated on the grill is vastly different than what it claims. When at a lower temp they’re closer but at higher temps they are way off, close to 50°F off.
I use a MEATER 2 probe for most cooks and the ambient temp was showing 40° lower than what the grill stated on my most recent chicken smoke. I bought a thermopro 4 probe sensor and did some testing.
At 150°F the probes were within 10° so that wasn’t too alarming. However, when I went up to 240° I had massive fluctuations and it actually showed that the grill was much hotter than the stated temp. I then moved the temp to 300° and they got as high as 80° above the stated temp.
I plan to deep clean the smoker to see if that improves performance but I don’t think a deep clean should change the temp that much. I have cleaned off the built in thermometer and that made no difference. I know I can recalibrate the grill’s thermometer, but I’m curious if anyone else has ran into this issue and what they have done about it? I also have updated to most recent firmware on the grill.
Last note, in the pic provided these are each probes placement inside the grill:
Probe 1: by the thermometer (left side of grate)
Probe 2: far right side of grate
Probe 3: dead center of grate
Probe 4: center of the grill ~6” elevated over probe 3.

Set it to the temps and log ot over 2 hours. With pellet grills ots very normal to see large fluctuation. The algorithms they use ro determin feed speed to maximize smoke at different twmps can give you high readings. Basically to make the smoke it will flood the fire chamber with pellets and you get temp jumps from the flood, then as it begins to smolder that’s when you getbthe smoke. As it smolder the temp should go down until the algorithm has decided its time the flood again.
Not 100% is that’s you issue here but something to consider.
