Hello and welcome back to In the Kitchen with Matt, I am your host Matt Taylor. Today I am going to show you how to make Mozzarella sticks, mmm yummy. Mozzarella sticks are one of my favorite appetizers to get at a restaurant. They are really easy to make, let’s get started. First we take some flour, I have a quarter cup of flour here, and I am going to add a half-teaspoon of salt to that, I am going to add a quarter teaspoon of pepper, and one teaspoon of garlic powder. Let’s go ahead and mix that together. Great. 1 cup of breadcrumbs, I am using traditional breadcrumbs but you can use Italian seasoned breadcrumbs if you want. And then for our cheese I just took string cheese like this and cut it in half, but you can get normal blocks of mozzarella if you want and then slice it into pieces like this. And then we are going to take our two eggs, 1 tablespoon of milk, go ahead and whisk this together. All right. Now we take a piece of mozzarella, we are going to go in the egg, dip it in the egg, now we go into the flour, now we go back into the egg, now we will go into the breadcrumbs, back into the egg, and then back into the breadcrumbs. Now the reason why we do that so many times, is because it is provide a nice thick layer around our cheese, so the cheese doesn’t ooze out, like all over the place, it might come out a little bit but, and there we go, and what we are going to do is do this with all of them, get them all nice and prepped. All right once you have the mozzarella all dipped its ready to fry them up, let’s take them over to the stovetop. Ok what I did is take a small pot and filled it with oil, oh about an inch deep, and then I heated it to 350 degrees, and now we go ahead and drop some in, and we will cook them for 30 to 45 seconds until they are nice and golden brown. If the oil is too hot the breadcrumbs are going to get too brown too quickly before the cheese has a chance to melt inside. Then you go ahead and take a tongs here, take a look at them, they are cooking nicely, okay when they are like that, and they are ready to go. And then you just go ahead and put them on a plate that has paper towel on it, and let them dry. And there we go, homemade mozzarella sticks, these mozzarella sticks were super easy to make, if I can make them you can make them. One little tip, if you run into the issue of the cheese coming out of the sides, go ahead and freeze them before you fry them, so after you dip them all, freeze them, and then go ahead and fry them. It also works well, if you want to make a whole big batch of them, and then only want to eat a few of them at a time, and then you can just fry them as you want. I am Matt Taylor this has been another episode of In the Kitchen with Matt, thank you for joining me, as always if you have any questions or comments put them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thumbs up, down in the corner, push it. Don’t forget to subscribe to my channel. Take care, time for me to dive into one of these, oh yeah. I am going to grab this guy right here, dip it into some marinara sauce.

  1. yum yum…. those look great. By chance have you made fresh mozzarella? It's not too difficult and taste amazing… But not near as fast and easy as your recipe! 🙂

  2. OMG I LOVE these things! But they're so expensive in a restaurant. Now I can make them at home and instead of being a treat they can be a staple food. Thank you for making this so easy

  3. Those look so delicious! I absolutely love cheese, and since your vids are so well explained, and amazin… I think I can make these!!! I’ll just need to get some string cheese, I don’t have any at the moment. But I can’t wait to make these! And omg, that one handed egg crack… HOW!?! lol 🙂 (me cracking eggs: *stabbing thumb into egg, failing to crack, spilling egg shell all over mix*) eh heh heh heh….lol 🙂
