Old Fashioned Oatmeal Pie

The most treasured items I have are the recipes from mom, my grandma’s, aunts and great grandmothers.  This is just one those recipes.  It’s an old fashioned Oatmeal Pie. Let me know what you think and y’all enjoy.

So here ya go.

Ingredients:

1 pie crust
4 eggs beaten
3/4 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup unsalted melted butter
1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
 1 cup light corn syrup

Whip the eggs together in a large bowl.
Mix in the sugars and cream together till sugars dissolve
Add in flour and mix well
Add in the cinnamon, vanilla and melted butter and mix well
Add in the oats and mix together well.
Now add in the corn syrup and mix very well.
Pour into prepared pie crust
Bake for 45-55 minutes in a preheated 350°F oven…Check around 40 minutes.  All ovens cook differently

  8. OMG my Grandma used to make this too!!! And I loved it!! Never knew how to make it! Its like a big gooey oatmeal cookie!! Cannot wait to make this!! I did not know about the corn syrup hack! I SO agree with you..things happen in the kitchen..its real life!

  10. Never heard of this pie. So glad I don't need a mixer for this. Makes it quick and easy. Thanks too for the corn syrup trick for the pie crust bottom. Hate soggy bottoms. I think I would add some chopped walnuts as that's how I usually eat my morning oatmeal. Thanks for sharing Greg.

  12. Your Oatmeal pie looks SO good!!!! I Love your idea of adding corn syrup to the bottom of your pies to prevent the crust from getting soggy!!!
