1 cup whole milk yogurt 3 egg 1/2 ghee or butter 1/2 cup of sugar 1 1/3 cup of semolina 1 teaspoon of baking powder 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 cup of coconut flakes
Preheat the oven to 350° Combine all of this ingredients together. Then pour 1/3 of the batter into a springform pan preferably 9 inch that’s been sprayed with nonstick spray and has wax paper at the bottom. Place it in the oven for about 15-20 minutes. Make the Ashta have it on low heat until your ready to pour. Take out the basbousa from the oven and put the cream in the middle and put the rest of the basbousa on top. Put it back in the oven for about 25 to 35 minutes until it’s done. Pour some simple syrup on top and pistachios is optional allow it to cool down for an hour then put it in the fridge. Take it out about four hours later removed from the pan and enjoy.
Ashta Recipe 3 cups whole milk 1 cup heavy cream 2/3 cup corn starch 1 tbsp. rose water 1/4 cup sugar
In a pot add all these ingredients on medium high heat. Stir constantly, as your stirring you’ll notice the cream will get thick. Once it starts to boil keep stirring for up to a minute then remove from the heat.
Simple syrup 2 cups white sugar 1 1/4 cup water Squeeze of fresh lemon juice, about 1 teaspoon
In a medium saucepan, combine together the sugar, water and squeeze of lemon juice. Set on the stovetop over high heat. Try to avoid stirring it as it heats to prevent crystallization from happening, but if the sugar is not dissolving, then help it out with a few stifrs. Once it comes to a boil, STOP stirring
