Is it just me, or do Prisoner wines all tend to follow the same pattern of lacking complexity and kind of seeming like it’s made to be crowd pleasing (in a bad way)? The most interesting thing I noted in tasting this wine is that it actually has a distinct blueberry note. Veryyy acidic, with some oak, and a bit of pepper tingling on the palate. I can’t tell if there’s more residual sugar in this than I typically enjoy….i think there is given my usual experience with Prisoner, but (perhaps) somehow they’ve masked it a little.
Picked this up on sale. In no scenario would I see it being worth the retail price of $75. There’s just not remotely enough complexity or elegance here.

Here’s the product page for anyone interested in seeing the notes.

Prisoner was sold to a company whose sole objective was to scale it up to make/sell as much as they could, so yes, everything they make is absolutely crafted to be a crowd pleaser. Also, when you make as much as they do, you have to source grapes from all over the place, so most of the district “character” is going to be created in the cellar to keep things consistent, rather than in the vineyards.
Packaging is sick
