Had these raw yesterday in Sorrento – can’t remember the name… When removed from the shell they looked like the cross section of a mushroom (t-shaped) and were pretty chewy. Any clues?

Specifically I believe this is the Cobicula Leana species.
In Italy clams are called Vongola.

It’s called sea truffle or noce (in Apulia). Its scientific name is Venus verrucosa.
