Bought from Costco and can’t peel anything off. First try at ribs.

Believe the Costco butchers remove it for you. There is no silver skin there. Have at it and send pics of the results.

Oh okay. I destroyed one rack trying to figure it out. Thanks everyone. Will post results later. 😃

I would consider trimming down the thick clump at the one end for even cooking. Smoke the chunk with the ribs for pitmaster’s treat during the cook.

You’d know if it was there. That first picture looks like there’s some scraps left behind. That’d be an example of what the tissue looks like. When you get a rack that has them, you’ll know.

Yeah, it’s been removed. I wish they would state that on the packaging. It’s really nice that they remove it but sometimes it’s hard to tell which leads to confusion.

I went through the same exact situation last week with my Costco ribs. 1st time smoking and almost destroyed a rack trying to find the membrane.

Yes, except for a thin strip of it on the edge away from your hand

It’s from Costco, you’re good. They take it off for you. One reason I like them. Less BS to prep.

Doesn’t matter honestly, people that remove the membrane are wasting their time

Yeah my Costco removes them too. Tripped me out first time I bought them as well.

Call me crazy, but I *like* to leave the membrane on.

Helps hold the rack together good when it’s perfect and tender, and it crisps up nice making these tasty crunchy bits.

To each his own, however. It’s not bad by any means without it.

The part that looks like flesh is what’s left on the first pic

Run warm water over them. It loosens the fat layer below the membrane and makes it super easy to peel. It sounds odd but seriously it works.

When it is still on there, it has more of a glossy look to it. Yours has mostly a non-shiny appearance. That is how you can tell it has been removed.

Honestly, I don’t think it really needs to be removed unless you’re in a competition.

Yes and I don’t remove it from mine when I make them and they come out just fine.

i bought some ribs that had a rub on them once from costco and the silverskin had not been removed. i have since bought the ribs with no rub and they have no silverskin… could be something specific to this costco…
