Ramen Akimoto offers ramen, tsukemen, and mazemen options throughout the week, but on Mondays they have special items that are not offered on other days. For a while the special item was the jiro ramen, but they just added a miso ramen option as well.
The choice of noodle for the miso ramen looks to be the same kind of noodles used for the jiro. They’re thick, chewy noodles that are very filling; you won’t leave hungry. I do think the jiro broth has a much stronger flavor, but the tradeoff is that the jiro soup is much fattier and oilier, and while that is how the style is like normally, that can be off-putting to people. I think the miso ramen being milder and less fatty gives the Monday menu a bit more appeal if you’re looking for something with the thicker noodles but don’t want to get a bowl of jiro.
There is also a spicy option, but I’ve yet to try it out. Shown with extra pork chashu.
