Hello everyone! I just bought my first tomato plant from Home Depot. I've never grown one before but I'm excited. I watched some videos that said to pick off the suckers which I did. I planted it in a 10gal pot of Miracle Gro soil with about an inch layer of mulch on top. Any tips? I'm worried I didn't plant it deep enough. Will that affect it? I can always pull it out and replant it deeper I think.

Also, my mom said I didn’t need to get tomato food/fertilizer since Miracle Gro already has it, but is that true?

Take off the mulch. Add more dirt, nearly to the brim, then put the mulch back on, and use less. You don’t need a full inch of mulch.

Please tell me that pot has drainage.

The plant will grow fine in the soil but adding extra ferts like fish emulsion or time release pellet fert or whatever never hurts, so long as you use it right.
