Salmon with a honey ginger soy gravy with sautéed onions
• 2lbs salmon
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp black pepper
• 1 tsp old bay seasoning
• 1 tsp paprika
• 1 tsp red pepper flakes( more if you want more heat)
• ½ cup soy sauce ( low sodium)
• 2/3 cups honey
• Pinch of fresh gratered ginger
• 1 tsp pure sesame oil ( optional)
• 3 tbsp olive oil
• 3 garlic cloves ( minced)
• 1 medium onion ( sliced)
• 1 tbsp cornstarch
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
Directions
Remove skin from pieces of salmon. Sit in bowl of water with lemon juice, for about 2 minutes ( optional). Pat dry pieces, the season on each side with salt, black pepper, paprika, old by seasoning and garlic powder. In saute pan, heat olive on medium high heat. Brown salmon pieces on each side for about 3minutes on each side, set aside on a plate. While browning salmon in a bowl, combine, soy say sauce, honey, red pepper flakes, ginger and cornstarch and whisk really good. After browning salmon, transfer remaining oil from skillet, to a sauce pan, if you need more oil go ahead, saute onions and garlic for about 3 minutes, then add the liquid, bring to a boil, stirring constantly, about 4 minutes. Add salmon back to skillet with heat on low, then pour sauce over salmon. Serve with white rice and your favourite vegetable.
