I’ve started hardening off my tomatoes in advance of planting out next weekend. Problem is I meant to bring them inside last night but I fell asleep on the couch because work has been absolutely kicking my buns.

Temperature got down to around 44/45 last night. Came out today and only one of my warm weather plans looks a little worse for wear. My eggplants, peppers, and the rest of my tomatoes all look great.

Will this tomato survive? I don’t have a ton of space, so don’t necessarily just want to plan out and hope for the best. Every spot is precious lol.

Needs to be in a bigger pot yesterday

As long as you plant it like75% of the plant under the ground. That long stem will root out really well.

Gardening takes a ton of effort, it’s not worth wasting your time and season on an unhealthy plant.

By all appearances it is not healthy at all.
    – it lost its lower leaves
    – the remaining leaves look to have frost damage
    – the plant is leggy and the stem is thin and discolored

It might survive and produce some tomatoes. But the yield and fruit quality will not be as good as a healthy plant even if it does survive. And unhealthy tomato plants are more susceptible to disease, and if this one gets a fungal outbreak it could help spread that to your other tomato plants.

When you can get a healthy plant for $5 at the nursery, it’s not worth the time and risk that would go into growing this one.

It should survive that. When in bigger pots, I let my tomatoes stay out down to about 45 with no issues. It might take a minute to recover. If I were you I’d put it in a five gallon bucket and burry all the leaf free stem.
