oily.

flavors were all good. the green bean and eggplant dish i’ve had in san fran and have not seen it in Austin — whether you’re vegan or not it’s just really good and did NOT disappoint (and yes it’s deep fried and super oily). it did not come with rice and i didn’t realize that so forgot to add rice (which is not on their online menu, but they do offer it apparently). this dish at $19 seems really steep to me — but deep frying eggplant at home is not something that I want to do. if you don’t like veges, after this dish you will! if you know some other place that serves this exact dish for cheaper, please let me know! i also asked for spicy and there were some red spicy peppers in it (I don’t know if that’s standard or they added it). it wasn’t that spicy but still.

the red-orange potstickers are pan fried spicy mushroom and chicken (on their menu that shows up as a steamed dumplings, if you’re ordering online I don’t see any way to convert it to a potsticker, but they did it over the phone, price stays the same (8 for $13) — and yes, they were hella oily but tasty. now on to the $15 noodles, I thought the flavor was good, the noodles themselves were chewy but they were oh so oily — you can taste the toasted sesame seed oil. the veges in the noodles were skimpy (for me) but that seems to be the norm, there was hardly any chicken (I think they ran out and then forgot to get a new batch and add it).

I really wanted to try their orange chicken but at $21 🙀 maybe next time. there are lots of other items and the menu is vast — some of the items are pricy (deservingly??) some of them seem west-coast priced to me.
