We received our first HF box this week and the first meal we tried was the Onion Crunch Chicken. Overall it was pretty good, but I wasn’t fan of the sweet potatoes with the sour cream added in (however, my husband liked it). Also, the instructions said to salt and pepper the chicken before putting on the onion topping, but I think the dried onion/onion flakes were salty enough so it ended up being a tad too salty for my taste and think we could’ve omitted salting the chicken.

Overall, pleasantly surprised, and would make something like this on our own again with a few tweaks!

We had a similar recipe, it was a crispy shallot pork croquette and it was delicious! I love the idea of “breading” it with something other than breadcrumbs

I find I skip the salt at least half of the time. It’s usually already salty enough. Especially when they include the concentrates.

I’ll be making that midweek but now kinda sad looking at the portion lol. Looks kinda small.

Welcome to HF! I’m on like my 8th week and making it a goal to try things I normally wouldn’t and everything has been good while some are better, just depends what you like.

I’m a newish cook and my favorite part is I didn’t think I liked roasted veggies, but after getting them crispy they are delicious! I was mind blown having my first crispy brussels sprouts, I would just steam them prior, or restaurants roasted (never crispy at restaurants though),

Just glancing at the recipe card and one thing I’ll do different, even though it’s two servings, I’ll bake/ roast as it’s 4 servings, so two baking sheets. I’m finding that better in most cases. I forget which meal got me to do this, but it was way too much on one pan.

If you like fish there’s typically at least one meal at standard cost. The shrimp and tilapia meals have been really good.

Also I assume you have discounted boxes… the discounts don’t apply to upgrades or premium meals, I found that out the hard way haha. My box last week was 50% off so thought I’d try to take advantage and include premium meals. The discount is just applied to the standard cost, not the premium cost. It was okay though cause total cost ended up about the same as my previous boxes. And made me appreciate the tilapia more cause I like it more than the premium trout meal.
