#cooking #salsa #mangosalsa

[Music] oops I forgot something all right about a week or so ago I did a video where I made brisket and I used that brisket in tacos and in that video when I was building the tacos I topped it with mango salsa and I kind of gave it just general thing oh it’s got this this this and this in it well I had a lot of people reach out and say how much what do you put in it so I really should have put it in that video so here is the mango salsa video so everyone knows how to make that mango salsa but also this stuff is terrific on everything it’s great on tacos it’s great on like brisket sandwiches I’ve put it on hamburgers before I’ve put it on pulled pork sandwiches it’s just a really great salsa you know digging a chip into it and taking a taste it’s fantastic and it’s super simple so let’s get started so I have sort of a large redbell pepper here first thing I want to do is just break this down into a few sections and then kind of take off that pithy white area kind of like the pith on an orange or something like that if a little gets through it’s not going to hurt anything then I just want to kind of break this down even further into smaller pieces kind of like big match sticks you don’t have to have a really fine dice for this salsa but you know if you can get it pretty small that’s good and then just sort of dice it up a bit and just keep repeating the process this is just one of those sort of Salsas that you can make that is just so simple and easy you can adjust the amounts you have on here you can add things to it maybe you want some garlic in it some fresh garlic go ahead but this is on the sweeter side get all this into our bowl next up we have half of sort of a medium small red onion here and I want to put some slices in it some vertical ones and then we’re just going to carefully put a couple horizontal slices in here I’m not an expert at this so I do the best I can and then we dice that our next up we have a bunch of cilantro here and I’m just going to take it down to where the stems are right by the leaves some cilantro stems never hurt anybody and I know there’s a lot of people who really don’t like cilantro you can leave this out if you want to add some parsley or something like that or I don’t know even some diced up spinach leaves but this Greenery is really nice in it going to do the Rock and chop here that’s looking good into the bowl now for our mango I’m cheating I’ve peeled mangoes to make this before but honestly this works just as well a thing of preut mango pieces that way you don’t have to deal with that weird pit in the center of a mango this is 16 O So a pound of cut up mango this is probably two to three mangoes if you’re going to do it from the actual [Music] mango my mango out here one thing I like to do is take a taste of the mango before I dice it up and put it in with the rest of the mixture because sometimes the mango you get isn’t super sweet depending on where you live and the season you can always add a little bit of a agave syrup to the salsa if you need a little sweetness but let’s see oh that’s pretty good so I’m just going to get my mango pieces break them down a little bit just like we did with the red onion on with the red doll pepper dice them up if any you’re too big break them down some more there’s really no right or wrong way to do this cut the pieces the way you want I’m going to get our mango in our Bowl here get her Bowl on our board want to give just a quick pinch of kosher salt here not a lot so the liquid component of this Sala to give it a little bit more than just the juice that’s going to shed off of the mango is some lime juice but also lime zest we’re going to zest this lime into this mixture right here and I’m just using my microplane these are great for zesting and if you do use a microplane or a zest or similar to this one of the things you can do is instead of just going straight across is roll the lime or the lemon or whatever you’re zesting as you run it across the microplane that way you avoid getting too deep into this sort of pith and you want to do the zesting before you do the juicing because zesting a lime you’ve already cut in half and juice is not fun ask me how I know and you don’t have to get it completely zested where there’s none of the green outer skin on there just get as close as you can I’m just going to cut my lime in half here get in my old beat up [Music] juicer [Music] and if after we mix it seems like it needs a little bit more juice in there I’ve got another lime standing [Music] by I just love this salsa the colors of it the flavor of it the smell of it let me get just a little taste here to see if we need to adjust anything it’s good but I want to hit it with just a little bit of a agave syrup just a little bit let bring a little more Sweetness in there another quick pinch of salt salt and sweet go great together in things like this get another little taste here that is spoton that is the mango salsa that I used in the brisket for tacos video you can use this on anything like I said I’ve used it on all those things I mentioned plus things I’m not even remembering oh actually don’t freak out about this you know if you ever had a good hot link sandwich like a Louisiana hot link in a bun like a hot dog bun this is fantastic on it that sort of heat and sweet mixture really really good so for those of you that reached out and said hey where was the recipe for the mango salsa here it is [Music] [Laughter] enjoy

  1. That is the perfect recipe if you add habanero along with. Habanero goes so well with mango! Thanks for sharing.

  2. I'll definitely try this. Quick question. Do you have a recipe for a BlackBerry bbq sauce/ glaze? I've heard it goes well with Turkey, especially Turkey on the Weber kettle grill.
