My friend is a very talented studio potter and asked to send her photos w the bowls she gifted. I work professionally as a chef and love showcasing food obviously but do not want to take away from her work!! Not only am I horrible at taking photos but also have a tendency to overthink everything. Please tell me which ones are your guys favorites !! Might trash them all which is fine 🫠

The angles are all sort of awkward and makes it hard as a viewer to focus on something in the photo due to the angles. The food looks absolutely deliciously amazing but you can’t really see any aspect of the bowl to show your friends work if that makes sense

My advice would be to hold your camera horizontal and take a couple step backs from the bowl. And then hold your phone at a higher slight angle (maybe to the bottom of your chin? Or top of your chest?)

Centering the bowl along with anything else that will be included in the photo can help to bring focus. If the chopsticks stay on the bowl put them on the side opposite of the nori. I feel like holding your phone horizontal would focus more on the food and then holding your phone vertical at various angles to highlight your friends craftsmanship!

I am also in no way a professional haha

  2. Not a professional, but there are simple steps to improve the photos. First remove the other stuff the condiments and nori wrapper out of the way, put your ramen not on the edge of the counter but in the middle. then try capturing the ramen bowl at an angle just slightly overhead, one you can still see the majority of the bowl’s bottom (try searching ramen bowl in Google images lm sure they all look like that). Next is you should invite me next time you’re cooking. That looks delicious as hell. 😸

If you have already devoured that, then the 3rd pic looks decent
