Tried out the snake charcoal method on some poor man’s brisket today. After about 6 hours internal temp 150 I looked inside my Weber to see how much charcoal was left and decided to add lighter fluid and nuke the rest of the charcoal. I intended to let the charcoal burn off before removing meat and finishing in oven, but as soon as I lit that son of a B* kicked back and blew my ass on the ground. Sorry this happened to you and hope you’re ok.

I am far from an expert but looking at your snake pic it doesn’t look anything like how it should be done to get a consistent even burn. Not even close.

Heads up you are going to get chewed out for using light fluid especially the way you did it.

Sorry again this happened to you.

What did you think was going to happen? So many things wrong here.

Hey, lesson learned. They look pretty good, though! How’d they taste?

Why would you want to burn off the unused charcoal?

Close the vents, let it burn out, use it on your next cook

Stay away from lighter fluid use natural methods like jealous devil bombs the work great and the are natural. Also use a chimney starter

  7. You are using a snake method for slow smoking meat. You should officially never use lighter fluid again. All that work you did would have been overwhelmed by lighter fluid taste!

No pain, no gain. Bet it’s worth the taste.

Yes I’ve been burned by flare ups but alcohol was NEVER involved /wink wink

Do you get enough smoke flavor with just the pellets ????
