Sweet Potato Pie Recipe⤵️
4-5 Small Sweet Potatoes or 3 Large Potatoes
(use video for size reference)
1 can Carnation Milk (leave a little in the can and use if needed)
1 Stick Unsalted Real Butter
1 1/2 Cup Sugar
1/2 Maple Syrup
2 Tbsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Lemon Extract
2 eggs (room temperature)
2 heaping tbsp Cinnamon (you can add less up to you)
1 tbsp Allspice
1 tbsp Nutmeg
1 tsp salt
hey y’all welcome back to my channel today we’re making some sweet potato pie and when i tell y’all this pie is tried and true and good i can’t eat a whole pie by myself don’t forget to like comment and subscribe to my channel for more great cooking videos let’s get to it for this recipe you’re going to need four sweet potatoes you’re going to need your vanilla your lemon extract your cinnamon your allspice nutmeg and your sugar and butter and we also have a bonus secret ingredient so just stay tuned for your sweet potatoes you can boil them you can bake them or you can do what i recently started doing i put mine in the microwave okay it is the lazy man bake at least that’s what i call it and now you want to add in some soften or melted butter add in your vanilla extract and go ahead and drop in some lemon extract yes add in your cinnamon i can get a little carried away with cinnamon those of y’all who watch my videos know i use a little extra cinnamon than what’s required okay add in your nutmeg and your allspice yeah man that cinnamon all spicy nutmeg that’s the three trio those three ingredients there they turn a good sweet potato pie to a great sweet potato pie and that’s facts facts make sure to use carnation milk and not regular milk because you’re going to get that rich and creamy pie and that bonus ingredient i mentioned earlier yes maple syrup this right here and then add in your sugar now this pate is good without the maple syrup don’t get me wrong but that maple syrup and do something for this pie my lord before i start mixing the pie i’m gonna push some of these ingredients down into the liquid because i’m trying to avoid some of the splash now you’re gonna get some splash but this is going to help avoid most of the splash when you mix this together don’t go into a full mixing mode start off by just a few short pulses get some of those larger sweet potatoes mixed in and then you should be good to go now is this your first time making um sweet potato pie y’all let me know what y’all think about this recipe in the comment section it’s so crazy because this is my mom’s recipe i just added a few other little things to it my mom is no longer with me she’s gone on to be with the lord but every time i’m making sweet potato pies it’s like i feel her presence i feel her spirit it it’s it’s i don’t know if it’s the craziest thing that’s why when i make these pies i’m all in i mean i surrender all i bring everything to the table i get so many requests from family members to make this pie during the holidays i mean during the holidays i have to make it i have to make probably almost 20 pies because i have to give our pies to everyone because everyone loves this recipe but now the secret is out it’s online you guys can come and make it for yourself and you can enjoy it and now you can make me some pies for thanksgiving in the holidays how about that so let’s the splash was getting a little out of control so i went and took some parchment paper and i just put it over the bowl just so i can you know eliminate some of the splash it’s just a splash party right now so i’m gonna add in my eggs i always add my eggs and last i do a final taste to make sure that nothing else is needed so i don’t want to be tasting the batter with raw eggs in it no i i just don’t want to be doing that so i saved that for last so i’m going to be doing my final mix just to make sure that this batter is the consistency that i like it i’m not mad at a few little uh sweet potato chunks in my batter but for the most part it should be nice and smooth it shouldn’t be too watery and it shouldn’t be too thick it should be somewhere in between now i’m gonna go ahead and stop the mixer and i’m going to scrape down the sides sometimes all those spices get stuck around the sides so we want to get all that good stuff from around there we want to make sure we just get all of that back inside of the bowl and then we can continue to mix things up we’re almost there just a little more mixing in the meantime thank you guys for coming by and checking out my channel um this sweet potato pie make it for your family make it for your friends i know questions about my recipes i will respond back and if you don’t get the recipe right the first time just keep trying i mean rome wasn’t built overnight yes now i think we’re good some sweet potatoes can be stringy most of the sweet potatoes i get don’t have a lot of strings in them but i have come across some that do have a lot of strings and the mixer will catch most of them so um as you can see here you it wasn’t a lot of string in these potatoes these were some smooth potatoes and those are my licking spoons so oh no it got eggs in it i’m sorry so now i want to this is it guys there you go there you go there you go this is the consistency you’re looking for it’s not too thick it’s not too thin it’s nice and smooth this is it now we’re ready to get these babies in the oven so i am using store-bought pie shells i mean you can make homemade pot shell if you like but why these are just as good so i pull them directly from the freezer like such and this bat is gonna make us two regular pies and if you were making deep dish it’ll make you like one deep dish pie but you will have batter left over and but with that leftover batter you can freeze it and or you can make some um sweet potato pie turnovers i’ll be doing a video for that soon too so stay tuned so we’re just gonna add these directly to the pie shell like such i normally make regular pies i don’t make deep dish that often because my husband is not like a deep dish pie fan he says that it’s too much batter in one pie for him so we go with the regular pies most of the time i do deep dish sometimes when i need to take pictures because i think that the deep dish pies they take better pictures that’s just my opinion and so now i’m just going to go ahead and get my spatula kind of even this out or you could just grab both of the sides um under the pan of the pie and just kind of give it a shake or two and then even them out like such and then we’re gonna put these in the oven um at 350 degrees let’s start off with about 45 minutes make sure you cover that top rack with foil so that the edges of the pie will not burn and here you go guys sweet potato pie enjoy don’t forget to like and don’t forget to I usually use condensed and carnation milk. But, I will try the maple syrup instead of the condensed milk. And yesss, the allspice along with the other spices is a must! It’s called Elevation 😃
