[“When someone is anxious, their body reacts in ways that can put an extra strain on their heart. The physical symptoms […] can be especially damaging among individuals with existing cardiac disease”](https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/anxiety-and-heart-disease#:~:text=The%20Effect%20of%20Anxiety%20on%20the%20Heart&text=Rapid%20heart%20rate%20(tachycardia)%20%E2%80%93,heart%20muscle%2C%20and%20heart%20failure.)

So, kid has a heart problem, takes the one chip challenge, starts to panic from the capsaicin and likely not knowing the potential outcomes of ingesting so much capsaicin, and his heart gives out in the panic.

Similarly, people with heart problems shouldn’t ride roller coasters. I’m not convinced that the chip has any serious danger associated with it amongst healthy individuals using it responsibly (e.g. don’t eat it while driving a car).

Why don’t they ever talk of pre-existing conditions? I hardly believe that a hot pepper or spicy food kills people. This reminds me of a story where a teenager who drank the equal of 2 liters of energy drink and died of heart problems. The media focused on the energy drinks instead of the fact that would do horrible things to anyone and he made poor poor decisions.
