The way it’s going we’re all going to be hanging out at my house eating peanut butter rice and drinking natty light
muldervinscully2
it has gotten completely wild. Even terrible starbucks coffee is expensive.
SizzlingSloth
This is not the typical going rate for cafes these days this is crazy overpriced. I don’t think I know another cafe that charges $6.50 for an americano even $5 is still hard to come by.
hendlefe
The cost differential for homemade coffee and coffee shop coffee is just too wide to ignore anymore.
prophet1012
More restaurants are going to close at this rate.
LataCogitandi
Good god we’ve gone from $5 lattes to $10 lattes in less than half a decade I swear
rand-san
Not sure how this place can justify charging $6.5. Kumquat is only $4.25 and Endorffeine is $5
CardiologicTripe
Yep. Don’t buy it.
anomerica
I believe that’s the haircut place I went to once, based on TikTok recommendations, that charged $100 for a men’s haircut.
cloud_busting
Frankly if you’re willing to pay $10 for a latte, you deserve to. (see also: Erewhon smoothies) But that is really outrageous. Even specialty places like Kumquat and Loquat don’t charge this much.

Seems like an easy item to cut out of your budget, non essential
jusss_doit
Me and my girl were shocked to see the prices when we walked in to Annuko, but def one of the best lattes we’ve had.
Goofedup69
Tierra Mia’s prices went up, sad year really.
SnooPies5622
Yeah some of these coffee prices are pretty ridiculous, especially considering the margins on coffee are very friendly for most drinks.
It sucks, I love the coffee shop experience and while I’m big on making it at home too, there’s something very different and wonderful about sitting in a nice peaceful public spot enjoying a coffee (not to mention I can work there when I need to get away from home).
CoolUncleTouch
Get fucked with that $6.50 *AMERICANO*.
That’s straight up robbery.
Charolastra17
Invest in an espresso machine and a quality grinder.
BananaPeelSlippers
Treat yourself to moccamaster and a coffee grinder and tell these bums to kick rocks

alexturnerftw
Dude its insane. I never buy coffee anymore
jasonmontauk
You underestimate the sheer number of young trust fund babies inhabiting our city who never bat an eye at prices like these.
Redford13
You’ll have your $8 latte and you will enjoy it!!
syredditor
Lavazza Blue ftw
SinoSoul
Reminds me of that one coffee shop in arts district opened by one of the ex-Handsome Coffee founders. They were one of the first to brake the $4 cortado mark last decade. Here we are.
narutohammyboy
$11 for bread and butter oh come on…
MeAndMeMonkey
Not only in LA. Was in Vegas, ordered 2 lattes w almond milk. $19!!! FOH. I didn’t pay for that shit. Gambled those $19 and lost them anyway
PleasantActuator6976
When you can no longer rely on the poverty meal of bread and butter…
louies4ever
This place is fucking garbage, and their drink prices are still a lot more than others.
ExplosiveDiarrhetic
Super automatic. Buy your own beans. Havent looked back

This paired with most “mom and pop” coffee shops not open at, well, coffee hours, is why I have slowly been backing away from coffee shops.
I am not a fan of Starbucks at all, but once in a while when I need a coffee in the morning, it’s the only thing open before 8, 9, sometimes 10 am, and the only place open as early as 4 or 5 am when I go to work. Just the commute to and from my work has absolutely no coffee shops open before 8am.
I guarantee they could and would do more business if they opened earlier.
manicgiant914
Wow! Twelve bucks for a kiddie hot dog on a bun. I paid less for a fully loaded at Pink’s.
SmireyFase
This is precisely why I dumped 1k into an espresso machine + grinder. 100000% worth it.
I would like to try that Spaghetti with lemon & basil.
PLxFTW
This just helps me justify my new espresso machine. At home coffees will cost me $6.50 in the first year
Coo7Hand7uke
Why do we even leave the house anymore smh
Bolt_EV
Like $3.35 for a coffee/milk drink was ever in hand!!

7 years ago I bought a Breville espresso maker for $550. It has saved me so much money, and that includes after upgrading to a separate grinder.
I_need_a_date_plz
I straight up won’t buy beverages anymore. I never thought I would be that person but I’m not paying $4.00 for a Coke.
Jschwartz567
Bought an espresso machine a few months ago. I can make espresso drinks better than 90% of cafes here. Totally worth it. Now I only go to shops I really really like.
phoyeah_
I’m getting my double americano by any means , and NO space for cream thank you.
Negative-Negativity
Iced tea at starbucks is $5. Its basically water.
Foreign-Match6401
7-11 by my work now has an espresso machine. $2.79 for a large. My once a week splurge. I do miss lounging about in a real coffee shop. When I lived in Montana there was a little roaster in our neighborhood that was heavenly. Games and cats and bohemian vibe with music and homemade pastries…. Nostalgia
