Had big issues with fungus gnats for a while and decided to add a layer of sand to all of my plants. The sand doesn’t contain any nutrients so the larvae will just die (haven’t even seen a fly land on it yet)
The sand combined with bottom watering fixed my problem👍🏼

Agreed, sand is the only way I completely got rid of my fungus gnats. Now I always put 2-3 cm of sand on top of the soil. I still water them from the top though.
