PURPLE SWEET POTATO PIE
AMOUNT INGREDIENT
– 1.5 to 2 Lbs Purple Sweet Potatoes (Skinned)
– 1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
– 2 Cups Sugar
– 3 Large Eggs
– 1 Stick Softened or Melted Butter
– 1 Tbsp Ground Allspice
– 1 Tbsp Ground Nutmeg
– 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
– 2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
– Pinch of Salt
– 2-3 Pillsbury Pie Crust

pong that way you can stay locked in for more good content coming your way purple sweet potato pie who knew this recipe is real simple to make you’re basically doing the same thing that you would do when you’re making a regular sweet potato pie only you’re using purple sweet potato now the thing about purple sweet potato pie is they actually originate from the Philippines and they go by a few different names purple yams Ube greater yams just just name a few or you could call it by a scientific designation theoria alata keep in mind that you need to get in contact with your local grocery stores to check for availability because this particular product is not available in all grocery stores all right first thing you want to do when you’re making this man is you want to preheat your oven to 350° F next you’re going to assemble all of your ingredients which is going to be your purple sweet potatoes your Pillsbury pie crust or you can make your own sugar butter sweetened condensed milk three large eggs nutmeg cinnamon all spice a pinch of salt and this is optional vanilla extract just to add a little bit extra punch of flavor you know what I mean but it’s option you don’t have to if you’re not a fan of vanilla you can omit that I like a little vanilla so I’m just going to P it just love that into the recipe all right once you’ve assembled all your ingredients you want to get a nice pot of water boiling all right make sure it’s on high heat and be sure to add a couple tablespoons of salt to your boil that way it be nice flavored all right once the water comes to a strong boil you want to go ahead and add your pepper sweet potatoes to the boil all right you want to let them boil until you can easily slide a fork or knife through it without having much resistance or any resistance from the potato all right and just a little tip but purple sweet potatoes are way more starchier than regular sweet potatoes so they’re going to need a little longer to cook all right you going to have to boil them things a little bit longer than you would a typical sweet potato but don’t worry it ain’t going to take too much time just boil that thing on down wait till that texture get right and then we can move on to Next Step you dig once they’ve been cooked down and they’re very tender very very very tender you want to remove them from that boiling water and allow them time to cool down all right so that way they can be cool enough for you to be able to handle them in the meantime if using the pre-made pillsberry crust you want to remove it from the refrigerator and preferably let it come to room temperature next you want to take a fork and poke tiny little holes on the bottom of the pie Crest all right and then you’re going to take that pie Crest with the holes in and you’re going to put it in the preheated oven at at 350° f for about 10 to 15 minutes okay now that your sweet potatoes are cool you want to remove the skins and begin adding the other ingredients first the condensed milk then eggs then your butter then nutmeg all spice cinnamon and of course sugar and vanilla extract with a little pinch of salt using a hand mixture you want to blend everything into a nice smooth puree like texture if you want to be to taste your mixture before you add it to the pie crust you want to om adding the eggs first okay cuz that way you can avoid any chance of salmonella poisoning and you just mix everything up together without the eggs taste it get it to the right taste then you add the eggs and mix that in afterwards the eggs aren’t really going to add that much of a flavor they’re not going to change the flavor that much they’re more of a textural component to the dish okay so you ain’t got to worry about adding the eggs later or you can just be on the Wild Side like Rocky and taste it as is all right I don’t think it’s going to kill you but you know if you want to be safe hey that’s a way to be cautious about it all right after you have your pie filling you need to go ahead and take those pie crust out of the oven if they’re not out already and then you want to add your pie filling to those crusts and make sure you go ahead and smooth them out real nicely so the presentation is good and you want to leave them in the oven for about 50 to 55 minutes or until the pie is puffed up and just firm in the center depending on the strength of your oven of course all right after you take your pies out you need to let them rest for at least about 30 minutes let them come to room temperature before serving well hey our pies are ready let’s go ahead and play them so we can go ahead and get a good taste test and let you know what they hitting on all right see you in a little [Music] bit all right we back it’s
