I want to say Brazil, but I’ll go off script and guess Portugal. I’m probably wrong, but I am reminded of when, like 25 years ago, I met a European guy in New York City who was studying pizza making and finding partners to bring a chain of NY style pizzerias to Portugal. He said that nowhere in Portugal could you just buy pizza by the slice. He was not Portuguese himself, so I’m not completely clear on why Portugal.
I only remember that for his planned chain, all franchisees would have to buy their supplies from him and give him 15% of all sales. I wonder if that venture ever took off.
