Went to the pop up at Gin Rummy this past Saturday. It was soooo good. Beef rib was amazing. Pork ribs and the shoulder were both super delicious. I got there around 12:30 and waited about an hour and forty five, but we knew what we were in for and it felt quick. They also serve drinks in line and the crowd was stoked and friendly. I wanted to try the huge tomahawk steak and the lamb chops, but didn’t have enough $$$ or eaters. I also wanted to try the bone marrow, but he was out by the time I got up there. It’s pricey, but everything is very large. Highly recommend it if you dig BBQ.

Interesting! I was also in a meat coma Sunday after eating half a pound of barbacoa de borrego on the sidewalk of East LA this weekend. A quarter of the price,, no line, no pics. BYO modelo for michis, but they provided free reggaeton. #IYKYK

I waited in line once, the BBQ was straight fire but its hard to want to wait in that line again.

Had his pop up at another location. Food is excellent! Also hella expensive!

  6. How was the pork shoulder served? Pulled pork style or just a whole cut?

I try not to be a hater and APL’s stuff is always good, but it’s not $82 for a beef rib that doesn’t seem to have a great smoke ring good. The last one I had was overcooked a bit too. For that much it had to perfect.

Like all the cool less common stuff he bbqs, just seems to sell out fast and you’d need to camp out all morning to get it.

Edit: I’ll admit maybe beef rib prices are through the roof every where seems $35 a lb at some Texas spots I assume that’s 2 lbs

Those beef plate ribs are actually really easy to smoke on your own (if you have space for a smoker) – the economics of buying them from a restaurant are never great unfortunately, they’ll always be absurdly expensive.

Was there last week too. We got there late on Sunday and he ran out of everything except the pork ribs. The prices are a little insane but the portions were HUGE. I took all the meat off the bone and had to give it away to different folks in the family the next day haha.

I was a little upset they ran out of the Tomahawk steak. $240 is insane money for a steak…but I figure that might feed me for the whole week. Has anyone tried it? I’m considering going next week to get the streak but $240 is actually crazy. I never had dry aged meat before so…yea…

Did the cows in question get a pedicure and massage before they were slaughtered? It’s not making sense.

When it was in Silver Lake, I had to make a few runs at it to get the timing right (sometimes too early and still a crazy long line, sometimes too late and all the food was gone), but the sweet spot is getting there right at 2:15pm. Every time I got there around that time, all the menu items were still there and at most there were 5 people in line in front of me.
