Was given to me for free by a friend of mine who moved. What’s the best way to clean this?

Fire. Light a full chimney of coals, dump them in, then walk away. Let it cool off then brush the ashes off the grate.

Next time clean it off immediately after removing the food using the same method. Usually there are enough coals to get the job done, but sometimes I add a few more on top to get the heat high enough to work its magic.

After firing up if more rust vinegar soak for 24 hours deals with a most of rust then use steel wool or some other abrasive to remove rest

Oven cleaner… the good stuff, not the earth friendly.. then hose it off.. then fire.. then clean it out with a hose.

    Then good to go.

Be tempted to bring it to a carwash

So that’s where my rib rack went! I had that same one and someone stole it after one use.

Take it to the dump like he should have. He just passed the chore to you.

Get a 500 BTU fire blower and have at it!

If that is mold you I would spray that down heavy with bleach rinse it off and then oven cleaner and then get it really hot before you use it. I don’t think mold toxins are burned away that’s why j would recommend cleaning it first.

I’d pressure wash it, then run it hot with some cheap charcoal.

Wire wheel if it’s hardened. Burn and scrape it if it’s not. Wear eye protection if using a drill and wire wheel.

    Dump it
    Scrape it
Fire it up and let everything burn.
Every year my grill gets winter mold.

Looks like mold. Fire is your friend.

As everyone has mentioned burn the mold off! High heat will get it done

I would personally just do a hot burn and hit it with a grill brush. Spray with canned canola oil/pam after.

I use an angle grinder with a wire brush. Works pretty well.
