OVEN-ROASTED CHICKPEAS
1 15-ounce can garbanzo beans 240 g or 1.5 cups, drained and rinsed
1 tablespoon avocado oil
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Preheat oven to 425°F. Spread the chickpeas on a clean dish towel and pat them dry. The drier, the better!
Place the dried chickpeas in a medium bowl and season with avocado oil, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Toss to coat the chickpeas with the oil and spices.
Transfer the seasoned chickpeas onto a small rimmed baking sheet (I recommend using a 1/4 sheet pan).
Pop in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Ovens vary, so the chickpeas may need more or less time. Set aside to cool.
Store in a small airtight container (a mason jar would be perfect!) in a cool, dry place for up to 5 days. Enjoy sprinkled over soups, salads, dips, or as a healthy high-protein snack.
NOTES
Flavor variations: Once the chickpeas come out of the oven, you can add even more flavor with these delicious combinations.
💫Want something warm and cozy? Sprinkle on some curry powder.
💫Do you like things spicy? Try a combination of smoked paprika and cayenne pepper.
💫If you’re in the mood for something sweet, how about a combination of brown sugar and cinnamon – I always omit the black pepper and garlic for this one (I love this combo sprinkled over a yogurt or cottage cheese bowl).
💫Italian lover? Finish with grated Parmesan cheese, onion powder, and dried basil.

three reasons why every Healthy Home cook definitely wants to make these oven roasted chickpeas number one Crispy Crunchy salty yum number two they are a delicious high protein high fiber snack and number three they’re perfect for topping salads soups dips and spreads plus they are absolutely delicious easy to make and fun to eat so the first thing I’m going to do is preheat my oven to 425° F then what I like to do is rinse my chick piece now I always use can and chickpeas for this recipe also known as garbanzo beans so you’re going to want one 15 oz can and you’re just going to pour those into a fine mesh strainer run them under some cold water this will rinse off any excess sodium and then I just lay them out on a clean dish towel and then you can fold the edges over and roll them around a bit you really just want to Pat them dry get any excess moisture off of the chickpeas because just like when you’re working with vegetables anytime you’re roasting you want your ingredients to be dry because if they’re wet they’re going to end up steaming and you’re not going to get that golden crispy Edge that we’re going for which would be very disappointing because these are a Crispy Crunchy salty snack so once they’re nice and dry I’m just going to transfer them onto a rimmed baking sheet this is technically a quarter sheet pan that I’m working with then I’m going to Simply season them I like to drizzle a tablespoon of avocado oil over the top you could also do a really nice olive oil here both would be great options then I have a half a teaspoon of sea salt 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper and a/ teaspoon of garlic powder now personally I love the classic flavor combination of salt pepper and garlic powder you all see me use this all the time it is basic but it’s absolutely delicious but keep in mind that you could definitely play with different spice mixtures for these roasted chickpeas as a matter of fact when they come out of the oven that’s another great opportunity to add another layer of flavor should you choose and when I pull mine out I’ll give you some more ideas for that okay once I’ve got them all seasoned you can see they’re spread about the tray um they can be close to each other you just don’t want them layered on top of one another you do want them in a single file then we’ll pop this into the oven and I’m going to let it cook for about 30 to 35 minutes now all ovens vary so you’re going to want to keep an eye on it I like to pull them out about halfway through give them a little Shimmy Shake so they cook evenly and then pop them back into the oven you’re going to know that they’re done because first they’re going to smell really good but also they’re going to become a nice golden brown and when you pull them out of the oven and you shake the pan you’re going to hear that they’re nice and crispy and crunchy if they have not arrived no big deal you’re just going to add on an extra 5 minutes until you have them right where you want them now these roasted chickpeas are delicious just the way they are but if you want to play around with spice mixtures now would be a great time to do that you could do a smoky spicy combo and do a half a teaspoon of smoked paprika and some cayenne pepper you could do nice and savory and do a teaspoon of curry powder over the top or you could even go sweet which is one of my favorites in which case I would omit the garlic powder and the black pepper and then when they come out of the oven I just sprinkle on a teaspoon or so of brown sugar I’ll usually use a monk fruit brown sugar and about a half a teaspoon or so of cinnamon and then you have a nice sweet option that you could put on a yogurt bowl or over your oatmeal or over a cottage cheese Bowl so many delicious options as for storage I love to just transfer these right into an airtight container they’re nice and dry and crispy so once you pop a lid on you can happily keep these stored for up to 5 days in a cool dry place and then you have them on hand for sprinkling on your salads maybe over a bowl of soup you could put it over a dip or a spread or over your favorite hummus they really are a super fun playful snack that’s packed with protein and fiber so you have to give this one a try and when you do snap a picture and tag me on Instagram or on Facebook and let me see all of the clean and deliciousness you’re whipping up in your very own kitchens as always if you enjoy re recipes like this please take a moment to like the video subscribe to the channel and hit that notification Bell so you never miss a new video and if there’s something specific you would like to see let me know because I love to hear from you all and even more so I love to create content that you find helpful thank you so much for watching I’m Danny spe and I’ll see you back here next time with some more clean and deliciousness cheers oh come on oh

This recipe is a classic! I love to make them as a fun, healthy snack – try sprinkling them over salads, soups, and dips; so good! XO Dani
I first saw these while I spent a summer in Greece in 1992! They are sold everywhere with raisins as a snack. I loved them! But have not been successful in making them. I’ll try again with your help. Thx!
Need to try ASAP.
Love your recipe !!! You are awesome!!! I like the way you present the ingredients and how you explain the process!!!❤️🤗
Looks delicious!! I need to try making these again…. I tried making them before and they didn’t turn out …… but I will try again
Yummy!😋 Definitely one to try. Thanks Dani!
🎉 TY!

recipe for healthy rice pudding
Air fryer?
Would these be okay with sesame oil? I don't have avocado or olive oil right now 😢
Tajin chile lime salt. Done!
These look good and sound good too! I’d love to see some ideas for super easy dinners on the go for when we have 5 minutes after work to get to sports!
Thanks, Dani!😘
I make them with additional roasted paprika and a pinch of brown sugar. Love it!!!
Have you tried crispyl lentils made from tin?
Crunchy! I have to try that thx so much 😋❤️
I am trying these in air fryer with no oil, no salt, 1 tablespoon Bragg’s and 1 tablespoon hot smoked paprika. #1 cause of death by nutrition issues is salt. 99.9% people over consume it see Dr Michael Greger
If you don't want to heat the oven up…..I've fried them in a large skillet with olive oil, about 2 tablespoons or less, and they turn out the same. Just brown them first, and then add the spices. Then sauté for a couple of minutes more. so good.
I love your so perky personality! great recipe! 🥰
Yum ,they look so crunchy !! Nice one Dani ! 🤩Love adding a barbecue seasoning!
I don’t like chickpeas, but when you make them crispy it’s a game changer. Thanks for reminding me about this delicious recipe, Dani.
I do these in the air fryer….. in FL we avoid oven in the summer.
This looks so yummy. One question… when you refer to sea salt does that mean Kosher salt or table salt? Thanks!
👍🏼👍🏼
I just made some today. I love them and i put smoked paprika and just love them

Praying for you every day
I’m making this tomorrow have a beautiful jar to put them in ,

Yummmm
Will be making this tomorrow.. love all your recipes. Just got your book.. so happy cooking times ahead!
I’m going to try this using the chickpeas that are dried (in a bag), which I soak first. I’ll be sure they are dry before I make this recipe. The canned chickpeas are always mushy and have such a high salt count.😊
I just love your channel and this brought back childhood memories, my Grandfather used to make this a LOOOOONG time ago….I am definitely making this and look forward to other videos on snax like this…..Keto snax are soo pricey and this is so simple, cheap and delish Thank you
