[Music] hi friends welcome back to the channel so today we are going to be working on the vegetable garden and this is actually a pretty large project so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to finish everything today but I did get a really good start on it last night I have been focusing on building a fence around the Garden area just to protect the garden from chickens and the dogs but I don’t think I’ll be able to finish that for probably another week just because it’s taking me some time to find all of the branches and posts and sticks so um I am going to make another string fence for the rest of the garden just to keep Theo out um and then hopefully this week I can finish the actual fence itself but I worked on the fence last night it was so much fun and I really do love the way that it has turned out I think it looks really natural and beautiful and that’s kind of what I’m looking for with my garden um and I love the way that a stick fence looks so love the way that it’s been turning out um but we have so much to get done in that Garden today and I woke up really early I woke up at 6:30 this morning and I’ve already fed the animals everyone’s taken care of I’ve been situating the the raised flower beds my husband made me a total of six raised flower beds for our vegetable garden area I still need to fill three of them with compost sticks and just whatever I can find because I am trying to fill it as much as possible before adding the soil because soil is very expensive I will say um so I need to do that um I also worked on laying down some more plastic because we are going to be putting mulch um in the whole Garden area so um if there’s just plastic on uh the ground right now so I want to cover that with mulch um I need to go to the garden center and pick up another um probably like 10 bags of soil and mulch I did a load yesterday which I need I still need to unload that from the truck um so yeah I need to go to the garden center for that I also need to pick up all of the vegetable plants that I’m going to be planting in the garden and I do realize that I am probably planting a bit late um and I did not plant anything from seed which next year I’m definitely going to focus on um seed starting because it’s just a way to save a lot of money I probably going to spend quite a lot with all the vegetables but you know it is what it is I feel like starting everything from seed this year would have been a lot and I’ll probably add a few things like a few uh seedlings to the garden at some point maybe um but next year I’m definitely goingon to focus on starting things from seeds so I’m gonna be um stopping at a lot of different nurseries and garden centers to pick up the vegetables because I know some places don’t have certain things um so yeah we have a lot going on today um but I’m just so excited this is probably going to be my most favorite garden video to film because I have just been dreaming about a vegetable garden for the longest time um and I’m just really excited to to get started this is what we are working with right now I just love the way this fence is looking I do want to fill the fence in a bit more with a bunch of twigs and let me give you an up close look at it um but just look at that I think that is beautiful and I can’t believe that I did this myself honestly I’m pretty impressed with myself um but I just used twine to tie all of the big sticks together um into the post as well um but I just think it looks really beautiful and natural and then we do have our six raised beds which like I said three of them need to be filled and I actually want to fill up a few of the others just so we don’t have to use as much soil we have a trellis up we do have two more trellises to put up and I need to add Stakes to them to that they’ll stay put um but I think it looks really beautiful so far I’m just so excited because I think this is going to look so good once we have everything put together um and then if you go back here we do have some more room um we do have some more room back here some more space so I think my husband is going to build out another large flower bed in this area but yeah that is what we are working with so far so I’m going to get started on adding more compost and dried Pine and sticks to these flower beds [Music] [Music] I’m going to take a break from the garden and head to the Garden Center I do need quite a bit of supplies um for the rest of the fence I’m going to grab some more steaks and string um I do need a lot more soil and mulch definitely a lot more mulch um I think I need about probably 10 more bags of soil and then the most exciting thing is I’m going to pick up the vegetable plants so I do have a long list of what I want to have in the garden and if I can’t find everything today I’m okay with you know going tomorrow so um it’d be nice to get everything planted today I would love that but there’s really no rush but yeah I’m really excited so let’s go ahead and head out [Music] he [Music] [Music] I got home about an hour ago and I unloaded the truck so all of the soil The Mulch all of the plants and the supplies that I need so it was a lot of work I will say I do feel like I’m really getting a workout in because of all the loading and unloading especially at Home Depot I had to load up um the carts and then unload it and then get home and unload it so it’s been a lot but it really did go by pretty quick um my garden looks like an absolute mess but I just wanted to lay out all the bags where I want to put them um or like where I want to put the soil but let me show you all of the plants that I got so I did get quite a few plants but this is not everything I want to go back in a few days once I lay out or plant everything in the beds I want to see what I have and then I’ll go out in a few days and pick up a few more things um but I really did try to focus a lot on Pest Control plants so the merry Golds Sage the um Rosemary that sort of stuff so I got a bunch of those but I’m really happy with everything that I found and I’m just so excited to plant it all I think right now I’m going to go ahead and get the hose out here and spray down these beds just to make sure that all of the dried stuff that I put in it is kind of bedded down um just so I can see how much I need to add to them before putting in the soil I know I definitely need to add a bunch of compost and twigs to these two beds um that bed right there is already filled with soil so honestly I feel like putting the soil in the beds will be really easy and then after that I will I think I’m going to do the muling and then I’ll do the fence and then we’ll do the planting so it’s about 3:30 um I want to try to get this done as quick as I can because I would love to get everything planted today so let’s get started on all this [Music] h [Music] so it is about 6:00 at night I have made so much progress in this Garden I laid down about 20 bags of mulch so as you can tell that didn’t even cover half of the garden so I’m going to go back tonight and grab 20 more bags just so that the will be ready for me tomorrow morning when I come back out here um I was able to raise or I was able to fill this flower bed with soil so we only have one more raised bed left to fill and then we can start planting everything so yeah I feel like I made really good progress I’m also going to grab a few more bags of soil just to kind of have on hand in case I need to top anything off um you guys know I moved this trellis right here but I looking back I should have first put the trellis there and then mulched but it is what it is and then my husband he is actually going to secure these trellises um I just I want him to do it because I just am not really in the mood to you know put Stakes down and attach it so he can do that I don’t know when he’s going to do that but still need to put up my little makeshift um fence so I’m going to do that tomorrow I’m going to lay down the rest of the mulch finish this raised bed and then we are going to be able to plant everything so yes this was such a long day um I’m exhausted and sweaty and um yeah it was just a very long day but I am really happy with the progress that I made today um so yeah I will see you guys bright and early tomorrow morning [Music] good morning so it is the next morning I made myself a cup of coffee this is actually my second cup of coffee today I woke up pretty early I had every intention on coming straight out to the Garden area but I decided to just relax for a little bit because yesterday completely exhausted me um I feel like my body is still recovering I did so much manual labor in the garden and so yeah I just decided to take it slow this morning but I am ready to do some more work um last night I went and picked up 20 more bags of mulch and thankfully this time somebody at Home Depot was able to help me load them to the cart and then also load them into my truck so that was super helpful but they still are in the truck bed so I do need to unload those and spread out the mulch and this mulch most likely won’t fill the entire Garden area but it will fill most of it so that’s okay um maybe I’ll make another trip this uh week and try to get like 20 more bags of mulch I have been watching the chickens and they really don’t seem too interested in the flower beds and I think that’s just because our property is so large that they have a lot of other areas they can go to they really do like hanging out underneath the trees um for some shade so I’m hoping that they will at least wait a week before they decide to come over to the Garden area because I want to finish that um the actual fun this upcoming week so hopefully I can get to that but yeah I’m like I I’m I’m happy to Garden but I am also really exhausted still like I do feel somewhat rested but man I’m like I have to unload 20 bags of mulch luckily the mulch is pretty light but I am just really excited to see how this Garden turns out today when I have everything planted and I do feel like I am going to go out and get a lot more vegetables because you know we do have six beds so there’s a lot of room which I’m really happy about so um I’m going to go ahead and unload the mulch [Music] I am going to start kind of mapping out these raised beds so I’m going to start kind of separating these veggies out and figuring out where I’m going to place everything [Music] [Applause] [Music] I have finished planting everything for today and it actually worked out perfectly because for the second half of the day it got really cloudy and it’s been raining on and off so I’m sure the plants are loving it but I wanted to take you guys on a little tour and share with you what I got and where I planted it starting off with this first raised bed I didn’t plant anything in this one except for the rosemary plant back there but I need to do some more research and figure out what I want to plant here I also want something that will um use this trellis for this half so I’m thinking maybe some more um Tomatoes or I don’t know I have to do some research and then over here we have let me see so we have two cauliflower plants we have some merry Golds we have some pickled cucumbers or pickling cucumbers so I want those to grow up this trellis and then hopefully I can find something that will work well over here to also kind of complement it so some cucumbers we have some Sage some more merry Golds and then right across from here we have um let me see kale cilantro Dill Rosemary some more merry Golds we have some sugar snap peas so hopefully those will climb this trellis I think that’ll look really nice some more merry Golds we have some red cabbage which I would love to plant more cabbage I absolutely love cabbage so we will see we have some more Sage for Pest Control um and then let me see this way right over here I didn’t plant much in this bed um so I do have basically the second half to use up so going to do some more research but I planted on this end two broccoli plants some Rosemary and then a merry gold I’m really really trying to stay on top of pest control plants um and then across from there we have let me see we have yellow squash and two zucchini plants and I do know that these get very large we planted it last year and they got ginormous so um I want to give them this entire bed basically and then we have some alysum cuz I think that’s how you say it Alisa I read that it was really good to plant this with zucchinis and some more stage and then lastly over here this is a full bed so I did Roma tomatoes I did some Chico eggplants um red bell pepper some merry gold some basil cilantro uh another roma tomato basil and some other bell peppers so that is it um this one is pretty full so I’m not going to add anything to this um um but yeah that is everything that I planted I am very happy um and I’m also happy that I have some more room left over um because I would like to plant more I have a few things on my list um but I just couldn’t find them so I will do some more planting here soon my husband still has to uh tie down and secure these trellises and then I will start attaching the plants um cuz I did buy some tape to attach them to it um and I did notice that these like pickling cucumber plants they’re so um what’s the word like flimsy I guess they break so easily um so I’m kind of nervous but hopefully these will grow up really strong um a few stems broke off when I took them home um I’m really excited to grow the cauliflower I’ve never grown that before and also the broccoli my husband loves broccoli so I told him that I’d plant some um yeah I really do love the way this turned out I’m going to add some more Mulch and hopefully this will all kind of come together once I finish the fence yeah I’m very happy so it’s been a long day I’m very tired and I’m excited to have a rest day and take a break from gardening come here come here up here come here come here come here oh my so I’m going to go ahead and close out this video um I’m so happy that I got to take you guys along with me on this gardening experience there is just something so special about growing your own food um and I still have so many other things that I want to plant in the garden oh my gosh um so I will be taking you guys along with that so be on the lookout for more gardening videos thank you so much for watching and please like And subscribe if you enjoyed it and I will see you in the next video bye he [Music]

  5. You are doing an amazing job. I love your passion for gardening. Soil and mulch is very expensive to buy. Have you considered buying it in bulk? Some garden centers will dump 2 to 3 yards directly into the bed of your truck. That is what we do and it saves money but not really because I just keep buying more plants. πŸ˜‚ or it can be delivered for a small fee.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Beautiful yard, so enjoy your channel. ❀

  7. Hi there I stumbled on your channel today while looking for ideas for a new garden space. I’m in the middle of moving and having to start a whole brand new space. Your garden is beautiful. I’m in zone 8 in Arizona. Where are you located?

  8. Omg looking amazing over there πŸŒ±πŸŒ±πŸ’š your stick fence is super cool and creative Love it. Theres probably alot if things you could still start from seeds like radishes πŸ˜‰ what garden zone are you in?

  9. You don't need to add mulch on top if you already have landscape fabric. The two are for the same purpose of suppressing weeds. You can just have a thick layer of mulch if you want to take off the landscape fabric.
