Recently got this beauty and am putting together some things from the previous owner, just wanted to check in with yall for an option on the following:
Per the instructions manual the charcoal divider and the cast iron grate are missing. Don’t see why I’d need the divider if I can do indirect cooking with the heat deflectors but would appreciate your thoughts. Also not sure what that cast iron grate would add at the bottom below the charcoal basket?
Does the inside ceramic look too uneven in that second pic? Like should the pieces be more cohesive or together at the edges?
Appreciate any input

There’s supposed to be a steel ring holding all the pieces together don’t get all caught up in the introcasiesof it just cook on it and mess with ur setup untill ubget it the way u like it.
Awesome score! You’re gonna love it
Very nice!
Congratulations!
The iron grate at the bottom is the standard part. The charcoal basket replaces that, and everyone says the basket is better
1. You don’t need the cast iron grate if you have the basket which you do. It likely didn’t come with the grate as that’s the KJ basket (not third party) and the models that come with the basket, don’t come with the grate.
2. No that’s normal. You never use it without the aluminum ring (which I can see in the first pic) installed. The “petals” are designed to be able to expand and contract without cracking and the extra space is a feature not a defect.
Unsolicited number 3. That looks like it’s in pretty good condition. Congratulations! I would check out SmokingDadBBQ on YouTube for the basics on using it.
Lastly, welcome to the club!
