hi everyone I’m Catherine thank you so much for coming to my channel Catherine’s place where I like to cook for you do grocery calls what’s for dinner segments and baking which is what I’m going to be doing today as I make these simple easy and delicious baked handheld apple pies all right if you’re new to my channel make sure you hit that subscribe button down below and with that Belle notification and you’ll always know when my shows are posted all right if y’all ready let’s get busy all right so I’m gonna go ahead and show you everything we’re going to need to make these simple easy and delicious baked handheld apple pies and the first thing you’re going to need to keep this simple and easy is a apple pie filling or topping mixture now this is a twenty one ounce can you’re gonna need some refrigerated pie crust and I’m using a two pack you’re gonna need some butter vanilla some powdered sugar white granulated sugar some milk and cinnamon alright let’s get busy putting these together alright so the first thing you’re gonna do is pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees we’re gonna start working with the crust first you’re gonna need just bring out your rolling pin we’re gonna lightly roll out the crust here a little bit of flour and then anything a biscuit cutter a glass or a bowl anything that is about three and a half to four inches of diameter you’re also gonna need your baking pan and I’ve got some parchment paper laid to the side up here so we’re gonna take our crust out now there’s two of them in here we’re going to work with one at a time all right and then we’re gonna do I’m gonna sprinkle a little bit of flour on my work surface here when you’re clean work surface just kind of spread it out this will just keep the dough from sticking that’s all right we’re gonna roll it very carefully out now it’s useful if you pull it out of the refrigerator and let it sit for just a little bit all right so I’m gonna like roll it in the flour a little bit just turn it over and then just roll out the edges all right you don’t want to go too thin with this all right okay I’m gonna take my bowl here and put it all the way up to the edge there and then push down then you can get a knife and then just kind of help cut it out don’t work like that and then I’m gonna place it right on my sheet pan all right I’m gonna finish up the rest of them all right so what I’m doing is I’m just finishing up the dough now I’ve taken the scraps from both rolls and put it together and I’m rolling it out and then I’m just cutting out more that way I can get as many out of this as I possibly can all right here’s what I have now I’m gonna show you how to fill these and get them ready to go all right so I’m taking my little circles of crust here I’m just going to place it on my pan here this is another pan that way because I’m gonna be needing two pinions to do this I’m gonna be taking my apple pie filling right here we open up the can this is a twenty one ounce can alright now what we’re gonna do let’s take some out of our can here place it right on our crust and then we’re going to kind of seal it shut with our fingers here I’m going to take another Fork and then I’m just going to make sure that it’s sealed good all the way around just like that [Music] [Music] [Music] all right so now what we’re gonna do is put two slits on the top of each one that way they don’t explode and they look pretty what Kelly’s are looking so far so nice right make sure you’re going through and there you go all right so I’ve mixed together some sugar and some cinnamon and it’s to your taste so if you want more sure and in less than min or if you want more cinnamon the less sugar these are just going to go on top all right [Music] I’m ready to get these in my oven that’s been preheated at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes we’re looking for a nice golden crust I’ll be back all right y’all there’s my little apple hand pies baked in the oven now I have rested these for about 10 minutes on a rack just to kind of cool them down a little bit because we’re going to make some glaze and pour them all over these all right so what I’ve done is I’ve melted 1 tablespoon of butter just into a cup here and I’m going to add 6 tablespoons of powdered sure I’m gonna put about half a tablespoon of milk in there I’m gonna add a little bit of flavoring some vanilla about 1/4 teaspoon just very little we’re gonna guess on this there we go I’m going to take my fork and then whisk this all together I bring my pies over here don’t those look delicious look at that [Music] all right look at those beautiful little buckets all right my baked handled apple pies are you ready for this one gonna try it for you oh there’s a bite right there okay that is so I am originally from WV, my Dad was a Coal Miner, my Mom made both baked and fried pies for his dinner bucket. Miners had to have foods they could eat with their hands.
Hi Catherine , I realise this is an older video but I know you read all new comments … If u brush a little egg wash halfway around before you seal them it would give a real good seal to them & I know ur trying to be calorie conscious by poking holes in & baking these but it always ends with the sealed edges getting too browned before the rest is done … So , maybe you could try this recipe without the holes & deep / semi deep fry them in avocado or corn oil to a perfect light brown instead & when mostly cooled DREDGE them in a thin glazing for a very thin glaze coat much like the store bought pies have
( blueberry , cherry & strawberry fillings are also great too )… I do love ur recipes ( especially these shortcut ones , they are so helpful …)….
