After soaking my puck screens in Cafiza i try to rinse them out very well and then steam them to remove any lingering residue. In trying to find a safe, easy way to do this, I stumbled onto a new use for an old pour-over brewer I use rarely, the Kalita Wave 155.

Turns out the 58.5 MM screen fits nicely inside the stepped ridges of the brewer. By placing that on a catch cup, I can blast steam through the puck and really clear it out.

I don’t think it’s worth buying a 155 just for this, but if you have one you might want to try it out.

the real pro tip is using the puck screen in the wave like that for a pour over, way better/consistent flow rate and you can grind finer without it choking as much.
