My love language is good for sure and I always like to make something special for holidays and special occasions. Decided on chicken and waffles for Father's Day.

This was my first time making this chicken and having it come out basically perfect. Did 1.5 times the recipe using 6 thighs and 8 drum sticks (just over 6lbs of chicken). Did a 24h brine in the buttermilk mixture.

I know the waffle is barely visible but it was also delicious! Used the Food Lab recipe. Whipping the egg whites was a bit fussy but the waffles were fluffy. Added leftover bacon to the waffles a la Hash House A Go Go.

I wish I made a spicy maple syrup to go with it instead of regular. But overall a very delicious meal and my husband was very happy! And I was happy to use most of the litre of buttermilk I bought between the two recipes.
