Meal preppers, I need your help! I'm getting ready for postpartum and with the baby on the way, there will be a whole lot of single-use trash already so I'm looking at reusable freezers to oven dishes. Specifically, I found IKEA 365+ stainless steel or glass, both with plastic lids. The idea is to have a few single portions ready (we will be cooking and ordering meals but I'm all in for having something ready in case of whatever), and then later on reuse those for leftovers when I'm making the food again from scratch, so that I can make more and freeze the portion or two.

The things I want to freeze are mostly cottage pie, lazy lasagna, pasta bakes, potato bakes…

Normally, I'd prefer glass, but something tells me the stainless steel ones could perform better? I have experience with glass ones, not the steel ones, but the steel ones have a huge advantage of them probably better way better stackable when not in use than the glass ones, plus they aren't so heavy.

(Other food preps I'll be doing are soups frozen in cubes and stored in bags and pre-cut onions, ginger and garlic for quicker cooking from scratch, but I really want some meals that require no prep, just take out, thaw a little, put in the oven and enjoy)

Any input is appreciated! I have no idea what I'm doing so… yeah 😀

Get Souper Cubes, and get the stoneware containers that are made for them! You’ll freeze your food in the Souper Cubes, then store them either in ziplock or I highly recommend vacuum sealing. Then pop them out as needed and into the stoneware set.

I love the glass ones you’ve linked from IKEA. I use them for everything, but have never gone from the freezer to the oven, only fridge to oven (just never needed to).

I suppose the steel ones would stack more neatly, but then you can’t see what’s in them. I want to be able to see if a tub is going to have my dried blueberries or some leftover cheese before I take it out of the fridge to open it.

I use my ikea 365 glassware in the freezer, fridge, and oven (and ofc microwave and dishwasher), I love it.
