For the last few weeks I’ve noticed ants setting up shop in only my Scotch peppers. They’ve not targeted other plants and I don’t see any caterpillars or snails, slugs, etc. what I do see is a few ants working on tearing away the skin like in the picture above.

How do I prevent/stop this from happening?

I read that ants love aphids because of the residue they leave behind on leaves. So they harvest the residue, and it damages the leaves

You might have aphid issue. Look under the leaves on the pepper, you’ll see what looks like green bulbous fleas- although they can be other colors.

The aphids drink the juices from the plant and excrete a sugary waste material, which attracts ants.
