hi guys welcome back to urban treats today we are making graham cracker lemon bars these are my all-time favorite lemon dessert they’re super rich in lemon flavor and they have an easy but delicious graham cracker base the ingredients always are in the description let’s get started [Music] [Applause] [Music] the first step is to prepare the graham cracker crust and this one is really easy you only need three ingredients so all we have is some graham crackers you can also use digestive biscuits some sugar and some butter and i’m using a 9×9 form to create my base so add the green crackers into your blender you can add the sugar in right away as well we’ll add the butter later and blend until you have fine cream crackers [Music] now that the graham crackers are fine and blend together with sugar we can add in the butter as always you can find all the ingredients and the recipe in the description that’s ready and we’re now going to pack this into our 9×9 form [Music] now we’re going to compact the graham crackers into the form as tightly and as evenly as possible if you have a roller like this one then it can help you get it really nice flat and straight if you don’t no worries you can use the back of a glass or a jar and just press it all evenly down [Music] now we’re ready to bake the base we’re going to put it in the oven at 175 degrees or 350 fahrenheit for 10 to 15 minutes just so it settles and it’s compact and while this is in the oven let’s prepare the lemon curd while the graham cracker base is in the oven setting we are going to prepare the lemon curd and for that you’re going to need some egg yolks we’re going to need some lemons sugar corn starch salt butter and of course lemon juice now the ingredients of course are all in the description so don’t worry just check down there and you will find it in both metric and imperial measurements let’s start by combining the water in a saucepan that’s one and a third cup of water together with the sugar we add in the corn starch and the salt [Music] we’re also going to zest a lemon we’re going to need approximately one tablespoon of lemon and these are medium sized lemons so one should be enough and a tip when you zest lemons try to stay away from the white bits under the skin because those are bitter and you just want the lemon flavor [Music] let’s juice the lemons as well so they are ready for the next step [Music] the lemon juice is ready and squeezed let’s make a little bit of space here so now we’re going to separate our egg yolks from the egg whites don’t throw the egg white away you can keep it maybe make an omelet or i’ll make something with it if you make lemon pie then it’s always great because you can use the egg whites for the meringue on the top but in this case we’re gonna just set it aside and use it later before we add in the butter the egg yolks and the lemon juice we have to temper the egg yolks and for that we’re first going to bring our water mixture here to a simmer a low simmer and keep stirring it until it thickens up [Music] now that the lemon curd is almost ready and you can see it’s really nice and thick now we have to temper the egg so we’ll switch off the heat and we’ll take two to three teaspoons of this hot sauce let’s put it in here and you have to be quick for this one and stir stir stir stir stir so that the eggs don’t cook because if you don’t do this fast enough then you’ll get little clumps of egg in your curd so you can see it’s become nice and yellow this is now tempered and now we’re going to add it to the rest of the lemon curd last but not least we add in the butter let that melt in we add in approximately a cup of lemon juice the lemon curd is ready and it looks really really delicious and it smells great we got the big green cracker base out of the oven and it’s ready and it smells really really good i can’t wait to taste this so we’re going to top it with the lemon curd and then we’re going to bake it for another 10 to 15 minutes just to set and then our lemon bars are ready [Music] okay let’s put it in the oven for 10-15 minutes and then they’re ready [Music] before we give the lemon green cracker bars a try don’t forget to subscribe leave us a like and if you have any questions make sure you leave them in the comments now let’s give this one a try so good see you next time [Music]
