In this video Chef Mpym shows you the simplest and easiest way to prepare minji (green peas) beef stew that’s added carrots and potatoes. The meal is most common in the mountains (central region of Kenya).
hello guys welcome and welcome back to our Channel Mo and world my name is and today I have another interesting video it’s an amazing recipe as you can see the ingredients there and I’m preparing them into sper finer pieces really scared of the knife since sharpen the it’s very sharp very very sharp and this is going to be my saer for tonight so it’s in the night guys preparing saer for my family and it’s definitely what you’re seeing here so those are the onions and here I’m grating garlic two clubs of garlic you can add more if you wish but according to me this one is more than enough for my today recipe and lights keep on going on and off here I have a tomato paste I will use it later for Preparation now I want to separate the stems from the Dan leaves you know you all know that I I like to use the stems together with the onions so these ones sometimes I PL them like [Music] that for me to obtain the sticky the sticks you see these are the leaves just prepare them first so you not we we use the leaves for garnishing or later later on later on why later but the sticks the D stems we’re going to put them together with the onions so let me just mix them it’s no big deal when I mix [Music] themal central part of Kenya central region [Music] the only thing missing will be the Kad I will not it will not be as much as the original yeah it’s just a certified copy of the original but won’t be as original you won’t add so many liters here of water and next on the preparation list is the carrots we just using one medium sized carrot I’m going to put it aside here are more Dan let me cut it first the stems can go there and the leaves to this other side and you can see I have War here can you see them yeah the were R yeah there they are and here since I want my tomatoes grated I usually gr or blend blend so this time around I’m grating for this this recipe I’m grating my tomatoes this brating will help them to cook faster and also more finer more thicker than just chop chops or cut or diced tomatoes yeah that’s how I love my stew the tomatoes well grated or well Blended and since this is the night I don’t have enough time for blending it will take lots of time and I’m in a hurry so that my children will not sleep hungry I’m just grating them to save time save time yes you see blending grating just takes little time there it is so all my ingredient are there now can show you save for the meat which is boiling we have grated Tomatoes I have used two huge Tomatoes I have potatoes well cut and washed and cut we have Dan leaves there we have carrots here the Dania stem onions garlic grinded and the mes I doed them before I place them in the fridge here I have the Royo cubes and the Royo I’m choosing is the Royo powder just use maybe one of the beef cube or two depending with the with my mood on that time and then there is some cooking oil I for to show you yeah will not going to boil them so we’ll fry and that means our cooking oil will be there so let’s get started let’s go straight to the P sauce SAU here we are our meat is boiling very well let me show you so it’s still boiling and the water it’s still too much so let’s just wait a minute as we [Music] as we wait for our as we wait for it you know what we serve it with need to be ready already by this time and we will serve our M beef Ste with you have seen it yeah yeah it’s a h what is it called Happy Father’s Day weekend and we need to treat our men right and this is what we are preparing for them they really need to enjoy our fathers our dads our you know yeah name them our Babas see Baba yeah but that if that Mo Baba is your father why not so that’s what I’m doing here yeah as I wait for my meat here to boil and we start frying our beef stew our chapaties are also coming through you can see them yeah so happy Father’s Day to all the dads in the world Happy Father’s Day to all the responsible fathers in the whole world Happy Father’s Day to all the bar bars the bar in our children’s lives those who are responsible of course if you’re not then you cannot call yourself a father a father means you have to be responsible yeah so what memory do you have H with your dad tell me in the comment section below to pick a story as we cook and prepare this Father’s Day this is at the night of course it will be a dinner Father’s Day dinner tell me H Mimi what I can remember uh Happy Father’s Day to my dad is so amazing yeah he’s such a wonderful man I can’t thank him enough first of all he loves educating his children H yeah that’s the best gift that he gave me educating me yeah you know during that time it was not easy for daughters for female children to be educated but my dad put education at the for front and I sure that all his children went to school and attained better education attained better grades so that I think that’s the best thing um a father can give to his children yeah apart from providing and doing anything but there are those fathers who don’t know even which grade their kids are in so they’re just leaving imagine you’re just leaving and you’re not even aware what your kids eat what your kids wear where your kids go to school that’s so bad so with today we appreciate all the responsible fathers in our kids life oh yeah even the stepf fathers are fathers yeah so happy Father’s day and may God bless you all you are such wonderful individuals we can’t thank you enough yeah for being there in our children’s life for stepping up yeah so I’m done with cooking my chapattis now I’m back and my meat has well let me strain this St bro here so that I can start the frying process though I’m putting the Bro away I’ll use it later it will make the stew remember so don’t throw it away and it’s because I don’t like to add water in my stew and yet I have broth that will make it very delicious will taste way better so my meat is in the pan let me add some cooking oil and I’ll add the onions and the D at this point remember I boil them the beef with some salt so I’ll be very careful when adding salt to this food and I like adding my salt at this point so I just add very little to have the onions cook faster then I’ll let it cook for some few minutes for a minute actually then I’ll come back let’s check it has cooked yeah then at this point we will add in our garlic you want it to get right into the meat you can see the you can feel that there’s something that was added into this meat yeah then another 1 minute one minute later wow the meat has started to Brown the onions have cooked so it’s time to add in our potatoes our potatoes and our carrots yeah I told you today I’m taking you straight right away direct one way to central region of Kenya so carrots laima laima in our beef stew let’s wait for it to cook for another one minute 1 minute it’s down we are adding our Tomatoes our grated tomatoes and that’s not just it any we have our tomato paste just put one table then mix well mix in well very very well you can see how it looks wow it’s so the aroma is so so giving tomato tomato cook but before that we’ll add in our Roo Cube it can get into the it can get into the very well and here is our Roo choosing Mi I usually don’t add I don’t mix it in water that’s my way I like it this way so let the spices get into the warus into the meat we will come back after 1 minute everything is just 1 minute and it will be ready after 1 minute I bring to you our broth and it was so ear since the meat some part of the meat were fat so I’ve haded the grow look see so I let it boil for a little three minutes some few minutes here come back let’s check yeah I think it’s boiling and I don’t want our our R to to overcook here we have our mes well Washed by the way guys I have washed it thorough now we are mixing it into our stew you can see how it has turned out now the mes you know some people even e just fry steam fry it or or just it doesn’t have to cook so much can be eaten even raw yeah so it will not stay in the heat for too long let’s give it uh one 2 to 3 minutes for it to just boil then we shall see what to do yeah let’s check now our Ste Mii Ste has come through you can see it’s time now it’s time guys we add in our corand leaves and you know what that means yeah yeah so we have come to the end of our today’s cooking let’s serve now our food and you see there are our chapatis and here’s our mes too let’s serve and see how it looks like in a platter ladies and gentlemen here are our chatties and our main dish was this which is the m beef stew with potatoes carrots I hope it
