hello hello and welcome to science Pete on his channel today I’m gonna show you how simple it is to make fried green tomatoes we do this one let’s do this this is this is optional you don’t have to put any seasoning whatsoever on your fried green tomatoes for some people they like to cook their grandfather green tomato in our in cornmeal or some people do just cornmeal I just love the taste of the flour I like to fry my stand [Music] okay so here’s our slices of tomatoes I cut them in different sizes got some thin got some medium sized and some big ones now you want to make sure that this is dry you don’t need a egg to coat it or anything and the reason that you don’t want to dip it in water because it holds a lot of water within this tomato if you’re going to add your seasoning this is the time to do so you only need I have tablespoons of it if you’re going to use the black pepper you’re going to use fourth of a teaspoon of black pepper you’ll mix it all in your bowl with the flour before adding your tomatoes so you want to take the fairly dry tomatoes and squeeze some of that out then that will be perfect apply it to your flowers cover that up and then we want to mix that up very well tomatoes [Music] [Music] never overcook your Tomatoes because if you overcook them they’re gonna start to absorb this debris and you don’t want it to do that [Music] so there you have it I’m kiddo southern five green tomatoes now doesn’t that look delicious now here’s some optional courses force dipping sauce this is really good at the Hidden Valley Ranch bacon flavor you can use the chunky blue cheese ranch tartar sauce or you can just eat them plain for the next time you in a move for kiddo appetizer or something that will complete your meal get in the kitchen and try this bright green tomato recipe so I hope you’ve enjoyed the time we’ve shared together but until next time be less you

  4. Oh my gosh! I've been eating them cooked this way for over 40 years now. So simple and so delicious. Add a piece of buttered white bread on the side #heaven. People always look at me sideways when i say I don't use cornmeal lol. I was so happy when i saw your video!!

  5. I’ve always wanted to try these. Ever since seeing them in a movie once. Idk what it was called but Kathy bates was in it!! Really good movie by the way.

  6. So, can you send me some supper tonight? Cause that looks yummy! I'm doing the tomatoes the night for my Mom and daughter! Thank you for the video!!

  8. Hey, good eater people, try this: get your food processor / grinder and blend a medium corn meal with a good handful of garden herb triscuits along with a handful of Cool Ranch Doritos. Throw in some sort of Cajun spice if you want a spicy tang to your FGTs. Use all purpose flour with a bit of salt, the non iodized kind, but it probably doesn't matter. I mix two eggs with about a quarter cup buttermilk. Whip it up good. Dunk your floured tom slices into the egg mix, then into the final breading mix. You can even dunk them into egg mix twice and breading mix again before frying. Watch out nothing gets burned. Maybe three to 4 minutes each side. Lay on paper towels and turn over. Let them babies cool a bit before chomping down. Yer tongue will slap yer brains out. Fit to eat !!! I'm in Montana and they are a real summer treat. Make sure they hard and green, not getting ripe at all. Enjoy, good folks. Bob in Montana. (9/01/21)

  9. Thank you!!! My mom made them and I couldn’t remember how but I know it wasn’t the triple station everyone posting. This is it!!!!

  10. You’re the only person that has a fried green tomatoes video who makes them the way I do. Sliced thin and coated in flour. Corn meal doesn’t taste good and it’s not a true southern recipe using the corn meal. I’m addicted to this recipe!! This is the reason I am subscribing to your channel!!!

  11. i was looking for a recipe with no cornmeal, this was so easy and worked perfectly! yummm!! from one Sonia, to another Sonya..💜Thank you for sharing

  12. Girl this is it. I'm 44 and I've been eating fried green tomatoes for 43 years lol. We always coated them in flour. Seasoned with a TINY bit of black pepper and a pinch of salt. Once they were done frying we went a bit heavier on the salt. Served them with some buttered white bread….heaven. Love seeing another fan of flour over cornmeal.
