BBQ chicken on the Grill for a Small Party or Weekly Meal Prep
Learning to make a proper bbq chicken is an essential tool in anyone’s repertoire. At some point, you will have friends over, need to invite your in-laws or potential in-laws, cook for your own growing family or try to impress with a backyard bbq.
Once you have mastered the other basic, Green seasoning, life and cooking tasks become easier. So check that out first if you haven’t.
In this recipe, chicken leg and thighs are marinated overnight in a blend of green seasoning, salt, black pepper, all purpose and adobo. The last two are optional but good when you need a variation.
After marination, the longer the better, you will need to bring the chicken to room temperature, to allow for even cooking on the grill.
The grill is heated and the chicken is placed n and cooked until the meat is fully cooked and takes on a lovely grilled color. In most cases, color equals flavor, so don’t miss out due to impatience.
Now that you know how to make bbq chicken, you will need some side dishes to go with that. You can consider appetizers including pholourie, accra, cheese paste sandwiches, wontons, wings, bang bang shrimp, and for the main side dishes, here are a few family favorites:: cornbread, potato salad, macaroni salad, fried rice, lo mein, a chunky veggie stir fry for the health conscious. with a little Advanced prep this Sunday lunch was quick effortless and absolutely delicious let me show you how to make it learning to make barbecue chicken is essential for your summer meal rotation so let’s head to the kitchen and welcome summer of 2024 I have eight leing thighs a total of about 9 lb after cleaning it will be 8 lb or around that to clean I’ll cut off this area here any excess with 1 cup of green seasoning salt black pepper allpurpose seasoning this is my blend allpurpose and adobo are optional but use it if you have any kind this is adobo my blend adjust the salt if you’re using other seasonings that contains salt and oil to bring it together mix well to combine get it all in those cracks and crevices marinate minimum 1 hour overnight or up to 2 Days in the fridge and a tightly sealed or reable bag or container you can also put it in in the freezer for up to 2 weeks look at that amazing seasoning it’s going to be very delicious we’ve removed the chicken from the fridge and now we’ll place it on the grill we place it skin side down on the grill and once the bottom Cooks we’ll flip it 12:00 okay close it down I’m going to make a quick fried rice going to add a couple of tablespoons of oil extra virgin olive oil and it’s really hot in the kitchen today so I want to do this very quickly and get out of here I have chopped one carrot half yellow 1 1 half orange bell pepper half of a large onion six cloves of garlic and some Ging Ginger and I’ll add it to the pot give it a stir we’ll just cook it for about 3 minutes and make sure your heat is on high very simple very quick moving it to my very large burner always make fried rice or stir fries on your largest burner make sure the part is on the flame all add in the boiled rice this is 2 and 1/2 cups of parboiled rice or three cups sorry three cups of far boiled rice two scallions and a small bunch of parsley adds a lovely flavor to fried rice stir fry you could also add pimento Pepper or hot pepper I did add a little bit and a piece of Ginger season with a little salt cuz we’re adding soy sauce as well black pepper [Music] stir I’m going to take out a bit for myself because I don’t eat soy sauce just a little bit that’s a lot if you want to learn how to boil rice or fried rice I will put that recipe on the blog we’ll add dark soy sauce or light soy sauce and sesame oil according to your preference sesame oil gives us a lovely toasted roasted flavor last stir and we’re done came together in less than 5 minutes so delicious turn off the flame and we’ll go check on the chicken it’s very very aromatic and tasty I’ll leave the link to the full recipe below also move the pot from the burner we don’t want it to continue cooking it’s been about 30 minutes these leing size are fairly large so it will take a long time but we’ll turn it and we’ll check again in 30 minutes what temperature is it at it’s at 350 so we’ll check and again in 30 minutes the smaller ones are nicely Browning nicely close it down and later on when the sun is cool I’ll give you an update on the caterpillars I’m also going to make some sweet potato fries I have a craving for sweet potato fries I’m going to B it dry then season with salt and olive oil and just put put it in the oven what’s going on Leo a CH the just little with olive oil or your favorite oil rub it in put some spices if you wish sometimes I add cinnamon today is a lazy day minimum ingredient day still going to be very delicious I have the oven at 375 I’m going to place it in sweet potato midle rack close oven the smaller chicken appears to be done at this point you put your barbecue sauce on and allow it to grill further we’ll only put in half cuz I don’t eat barbecue sauce I’m eating clean these days it’s done when the skin pulls away from the base of the leg there I want to show you some of the caterpillars we had had thousands they’re getting larger and this is after we um power wash the house and use the blower they’re coming back at the back of the house at the side of the house there are thousands I don’t know if you’re ready to see that there’ll be no gardening or outdoor activities this year we’re just taking a chance with this barbecue today but these things are falling from the sky they have webs they’re using webs and they’re coming down like Spidey like SP Spiderman insane the amount of time your chicken tastes will be based on several factors the size the type of Grill the temperature you use and now we’ll place the we’ll what’s the word we’ll brush the barbecue sauce on the chicken I have a lovely homemade barbecue sauce recipe I’ll leave the link to that below just brush the barbecue sauce on and cook it on the flame for to allow it to caramelize and for the flavor to deepen then enjoy we’ll show you when it’s done cuz we don’t want to make this video too long so yummy and this will be my afternoon snack with some maybe some ketchup so delicious y Ready Steady go yay out some so water crust the main solid greens of the Caribbean yummy and because he can’t wait we’ll start eating now and that’s it a delicious and easy lunch is served this is what I serve when I don’t want to cook don’t feel like cooking it’s too hot to cook and it’s going to be simply amazingly delicious [Music] always know where your high heat side is and the low heat so once it’s cooked almost cooked
