Hello everyone! I joined the bandwagon during the Memorial Day sale and got the 575 Pro. So far our favorites have been slow smoked chopped chicken thighs, ribeye cooked to 120 then slapped on a hot Blackstone, and amazing tri-tip.

That said, I think I got a bad bag of Kirkland pellets or something. On the seasoning burn, I got an auger burn back. I had a flame out at the very end of the tri-tip. The last use (5th cook) they completely jammed my auger, and I had to spend all afternoon today taking it apart. I’ve heard that the Traeger brand pellets are flavored filler, but what would be a good replacement for these Costco problem children?

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

Can you get Bear Mountain? I’ve never had a problem with them and they smell and taste great.

  3. I used Lumberjack for a while and loved them, but they’ve been hard to find at reasonable prices lately. I bought 80lbs of CookinPellets Hickory on Amazon a while back… they’re decent, although quite dusty. I should probably be sifting them but I haven’t had any problems so far.

I use Kirkland pellets and get burn back anytime I’m cooking over 350. I discovered the truck is, when you are done, to turn is down to 225 for 20-30 min, then run the shutdown cycle. No more burn backs.

Pit Boss pellets have been my go to since I scooped up a half dozen giant bags on clearance a couple years ago. Haven’t had any problems with them.
