Homemade Beef & Broccoli: The Fresh Alternative
Homemade Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
4 cups broccoli florets
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup oyster sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Cooked rice (for serving)
Instructions:
Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, water, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Add the sliced flank steak and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Cook the Broccoli: In a large skillet or wok, bring water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
Combine and Serve: Add the cooked broccoli back to the skillet with the beef. Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet and stir until everything is well coated and the sauce has thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Drizzle with sesame oil if desired. Serve immediately over cooked rice.
