hi it’s Chris with City girl Homestead and Jack um we’re back to do another canning project this one also is uh considered Rebel it’s not USDA approved or the four letter words whatever it is so we’re going to can sausage gravy and I’ve been doing this for quite a while but anything that I do that’s reveling you need to decide for you and your family what is best for you and your family if you’re brand new at canning I did it but doesn’t mean you need to um you know weigh out the causes see if you know people that have done it and trust them and trust yourself so we’re gonna get on to canning sausage gravy I get it in the 10 pound can from Sam’s Club and I am using my four jar lids and if you would like a discount if you look down in the description they’ll be 10 off so you’re going to start out by filling your jar now I don’t go quite up to the head the one inch head space because I feel like it expands a little bit not too bad but a little bit when it’s um when it’s pressure canning now make sure you hit the bubble let me show you guys that are new here hold on I’ll do it again I did it with another video but right here do you see those bubbles and there’s some there too what that does is allows bacteria to grow inside of your jar and you don’t want to do that and it also makes it so that your seal may not seal so you want to make sure you always to bubble and take out all those because believe me botulism is not your friend and you don’t want that crap and then you’re going to want to always make sure you clean your lids that’s where you can check to see if there’s any kind of you know chips or anything like that put your Lids on and then your ring and see how there’s no no more bubbles in there I’ll do another one here every time you see me do my videos with the um gravy this is what it’s from Canada actually I should have got enough to do a double batch because I could have given some to my kids for Christmas and I didn’t even think about that just go ahead and turn it on Jack and I’m going to Bubble this one I never remember how many it takes so I got seven jars up here just in case I’m not ready I’m gonna get the rest of these done up thank you then it takes let’s bring you back over here there’s Jack behind me oh um this one because it does have sausage in it you have to can it for me time which is 75 minutes for pints if you do this in quartz you got a great big family or you’re getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings you want to feed that big family courts take 90 minutes so we’re going to put in the canner zooming up on high we’re going to let it vent for 10 minutes then you can start your timer so we’ll bring you back when those are done all right and there’s the sausage gravy doesn’t that look delish we got six pints of that 14 pints of SpaghettiOs what an adventurous day and I did two things of uh piece for my oops there was one that popped two things a piece for my grandson you guys have a very very another pop they do pop I told you you guys have a very very blessed day

  1. I cant do sausage gravy I do the powdered pepper gravy however I do wonder if you can can that its super simple to make and I dont even know that the canning time would be since there is not any meat……… Might have to research that! Glad you all like that and are able to use it!

  2. Thank you so much for the canning info. I am curious though why you would go through all that hassle to re-can something that was already canned? Why not just make it from scratch??

  3. That being said, it probably wouldn't last more than a couple months in my pantry, lol, not like we're actually going long term before eating it. I think people may become discouraged because alot of people can, then just look at it. I used to be really bad at that. Ya have to eat what you can.
