I decided to join the efforts of bringing back the Giant Crimson tomato. I got 5 seeds 2 years ago when MIgardener first offered them, then held onto them this whole time because I was terrified I would screw it up and kill the plant. Turns out I was probably right because the last 2 summers have been horrible tomato years for me – combination of me still learning how to grow tomato plants and the very uncooperative hot & dry weather.
This year I finally kicked myself in the butt and convinced myself it was time to grow them. I sprouted 2 seeds and the plants are almost 5 ft tall at this point and flowering. I'm glad I waited until this year because I have never had such healthy tomato plants before – I'm finally learning!
I would love to hear about others' experience with growing this variety that was brought back from extinction. Were they difficult to grow? What were health issues with them and how did you resolve it? Overall opinion and are you glad you grew them, would you grow them again? And anything else you want to share about them!

Looking good
Not difficult to grow and pretty resilient. Matures in a strange way, red with patches of green that stay green. Absolutely delicious, especially for fried tomatoes. One of my favorites!
