It’s a Weber flat top insert. This does not looks great. Those spots are where I do my smash burgers.

  1. I’m going to give you the advice I got from the Blackstone sub reddit.

    Throw some bacon on it.

I always clean it after I use it and than apply some oil .

Treat it like you would a cast iron skillet. After each use, give it a wipe down and apply a bit of oil to season. If this is rust, rust is a surface condition. Just scrub it off and season the pan.

Do you mean that’s where you make your burger patties? Or that you smash them down as they cook?

    Turn your heat down

And stop smashing you burgers, stupid trend

  6. Deep-Nebula5536

Take care of it like you would a cast iron skillet.

go to your local Ave hardware and get some of that bacon grease they sell in a tub.

use that to rub the bitch down

I don’t see a problem here. Keep cooking.

  9. Heat it up, scrub it up with oil, turn heat down, wipe up oil, keep wiping till you like the way it looks, light layer of oil, turn it full blast till it’s done smoking.

Not all that glitters is gold but smash burgers are 1950’s to me.. Like what steak and shakes wanted to be..

Besides some additional seasoning, use a putty knife type scraper to flip the burgers. Many grill toolsets are coming with them now. It’s easier to keep that crust attached to the burgers.

Looks like you have a nice set up with a Weber Genesis. Truthfully, I’d invest a bit more and get a small Blackstone griddle or comparable stand alone griddle. I use both and mostly for different foods/different cooking methods. Love both!

How much was this? I see some on Amazon for like $50

If that’s just burger crust, you didn’t do anything wrong. Hard to get a good sear without a really hot surface, and that leaves behind some residue.

Some hot water and a scrubby will take it off. I often use a flexible metal cookie spatula to gently scrape off my cast iron because it’s so thin. Purists will freak out OMG NO METAL ON CAST IRON but my seasoning is fine. Just don’t gouge it like an idiot and you’ll be fine. Cast iron is made to cook tasty food, not to collect reddit karma.

Yes. Send me a DM with your details when you put your grill on the curb

This is expected and will happen with burgers are cooked. No big deal. Just add some oil and heat it up. Better yet, don’t worry about it.

There’s lots of good advice in here. My way is to turn my kitchen stove on and grab a frying pan out of the drawer

  18. swoopy17

Have you tried oiling it and cleaning it?

  19. JentlemanJack

Do you use the sear zone when you cook with the griddle? It says not to use it in the manual but I can’t seem to get the temperature high enough without it.

Where do people store their seasoned / greasy flat tops?

I’ve been throwing mine in the dishwasher each time after smash burgers, am I doing it wrong ? 🙈
