I live in the south of England and we’ve had a cold and not very sunny summer so far. I decided to grow some scotch bonnets and Carolina reapers at home for fun! I’ve ended up with about 30 plants. 😬 They’re now in 5 inch pots, look healthy enough to me and some of the scotch bonnets have started growing buds over the last week.
They need more compost added as many have little roots growing just above the surface. I can also see some thin roots underneath the pots, so I’m thinking they need moved to bigger pots. Is this correct?
Anyway, do they look healthy? What do I do next to help they grow well? Thanks!

I’m looking at photos online and are these even Carolina reaper and scotch bonnet plants?! 🤦🏼♀️😅 Ive grown these from seeds and I feel like I’ve been scammed….
London grower here – these look great and similar to my Chinense plants. It’s been a bit crap this year, especially in contrast to last year where I had an abundance of fruit at this point on my non-superhots. With the superhots you’ll need to hold on a bit longer to get fruits – I’ve also started getting a few buds on my superhots, but none as far advanced as the ones in your picture!
They look like they are in 1L pots so if you want a bigger plant I would pot them onto something bigger. If not just keep doing what you’re doing. Depending on the soil you may need to feed it – I top dress with blood fish and bone meal and that seems to work a treat for producing more fruit in both my chillis and strawberries.
Looks great, just replant them in a bigger pot soon so they grow bigger.
