    We Need Your Help!

We’ve noticed that recent changes in Reddit’s algorithms have made it harder for original content (OC) communities like ours to get the visibility we used to enjoy. This shift means that posts and comments aren’t getting the attention they deserve.

By voting on and commenting on posts, you’re not only helping others but also boosting the visibility of your own posts. Your engagement is crucial, not just for r/PelletGrills, but for all the wonderful niche communities like food, crafts, art, and culture that thrive on original content. Even a simple comment like “This would fit X sub” can make a big difference.

Together, we can support and uplift our entire community. Let’s keep the positive vibes and delicious smoked meat content flowing!

Needless to say, it might be ruined.

After a long couple weeks away, I was excited to smoke some chicken when we got home. I fired up the Rec Teq to high and it resulted in a toxic, black mess of plastic and burnt catfood globs.

The grates are an absolute nightmare, but the inside of the grill housing has 2 globs of plastic that are hard as a rock. I could hit them with a torch and try to scrape it? Or just turn it on 500° for a couple hours?

I’m just concerned than any option is going to result in either inhaling the crap while I work on removing it, or is going to coat my smoker in toxic plastic fumes that’ll coat my food for months.

    Any input is appreciated

Try removing with a heat gun and once all the removed let that thing in high for a while to burn all the residue out.

For the ones in the grill, don’t heat it, just hit it with a scraper, should pop right off.

Same goes for the rest of it really. Nothing is ruined, just chip and scrape

My step son forgot we had put some plate in the oven. Cranked it up to do a pizza and 15 min later was hollering fire through the house…. needless to say it was an entertaining evening and his name got changed in my phone to “Oven Fire” lol

I agree with most everyone hit it with a scraper you ought to be ok.

You turned it on to cook without opening it?

Isn’t it a bit odd not to look inside first?
