Finally got down south for Hattie Bs. I’m a spice head, so i got the Cluckin hot thigh and damn hot tenders. But as you can see, the tenders look way more spiced than the thigh. And my suspicions were confirmed as soon as I bit into both of them, the tenders were way spicier. I guess they mixed up the spice level.

Anyway, the thigh was about a 7/10 spicy to me while the tenders are about a 9/10.

  1. It honestly looks like day old refried chicken.

I gotta say. I went to Hattie B’s in Nashville about 10 years when they were starting to pop off.

It was some of the best food I’d eaten in awhile.

I tried the Austin location, and it’s not the same. It’s always hard to retain quality at scale, so I get it. Just hurt my heart!! 😂

Hattie B’s is probably the worst hot chicken in Nashville, wish we had gotten a Prince’s or a Bolton’s or something

As someone who has eaten a ton of Hattie B’s since they opened here… it’s okay. It’s not bad. But the more I eat it the more I appreciate literally any other chicken joint in town tbh

Damn I am surprised by the hate here for Hat Bs. Where I do agree the Tennessee location (Memphis particular) was far better, I still think the few times I went here in Austin it stacks up well. All trips have been great in my opinion. Everything else at T22 is better, but I like the flavor I get at Hat Bs a bit more. The spice profile taste a bit more complex. Idk, I do recommend on-bone>tenders though, the hell yall thinking.

Anyone looking for this style chicken in Austin should go to Bussin’ Buns, best option imo

Hattie b’s is spicier than T22, dunno if it’s better.

Tried it recently and it was solid but I don’t think I’ll go back regularly. I definitely prefer T22 and the fact that Hattie b’s has packaged sauces just ruined it for me as a sauce person.

Wanted to love Hattie Bs but I was incredibly disappointed. Dry the chicken was bad quality. Gonna chalk it up to opening month and try it again in a bit.

Dang hot is a better option imo

I had Hattie B’s in Nashville, it was solid experience. Just made the mistake of getting the 2nd hottest which was teally hot. Curious as to how ATX version is – thx for post
