Luckily my eyelashes don’t look like my arm hair! Hahahahaa oh man I knew it was coming too. Was searing at 600 opened it too fast saw the cloud come up, then it burst into fire and there goes the arm hair. I didn’t drop the lid thankfully 🙂
No burns 🙂

Learn to burp it. I’ve also done this before
I can smell this photo.
I’ve lost eyebrows to the mushroom cloud. Burp it!
I have given myself a shave by burning off my whiskers doing exactly this.
First they came for my knuckle hair but that was not enough. For the flames were hungry for the arm. Eyebrows were next, note the slightly unnatural curl to the eyelash. – 900+ degree ribeye
This is simply part of BGE initiation. Welcome, brother
I rewatch the entire movie Backdraft [in my head in a flash] every time I go to open it above 350
BULL!
It’s a rite of passage. You’re one of us, now.
I once had a burst that singed my goatee and eyebrows. Fortunately, the food wasn’t on yet so I was able to clean up and not smell the aroma of burnt hair.
Unfortunately, most of us learn this lesson. Hopefully it’s just a subtle reminder for everyone. Glad you are ok.
Burping is the way to go
Everyone that owns or uses an egg should skip the tutorials on operation, free up a couple hrs. of time and watch the movie ” Backdraft “. You’ll learn everything you need to know about fire. Once you learn about fire, you’ll respect fire. Once you respect fire, you can learn to control it and the egg. Remember, fire is a living, breathing creature.. I also have an egg and no arm hair.
Highly recommend forearm-length leather gloves for the arm hair. Won’t do anything for your eyebrows though.
If you don’t have the reggulator in, close your bottom draft as well before you crack the lid open. Gives you another few seconds before the flames really kick up, and when you close it open the draft back up. Haven’t ever lost my temp doing this at anything above 380
Yeah. Been there. Had the singed bangs to prove it.
