Bought a habanero plant in May. Yield seems solid so far, but my buddy pointed out that they’re not supposed to have a tail or look wrinkly. Possible I got something else?

They definitely don’t look like habaneros to me. They look similar to my 7-pot Scorpion peppers or dragon’s breath, but it could very well be something else. Too wrinkly and mean looking to be habaneros I’d say

    Habaneros on steroids.
Jk, idk what they are, they’re way hotter than habs for sure tho.

Those are not habs. Almost certainly something very much meaner than a hab.

They look like my ghost peppers. Could be wrong though.

Those look like reapers. Check the angry little horns on the end.

Some look like ghost peppers some look like Carolina reapers or maybe 7 pot Primos. They look cool though whatever they are.

Too angry looking for Habs. Habaneros usually have smooth skin, not all wrinkly and warty. These are possibly reaper/scorpion

    Not habaneros 😆

    Hope you like heat!

Trinidad Scorpion, some kind of Reaper cross, 7 pot, Dragons breath variation, or a cross of any of the above. That’s my guess and in that order.

The tail looks more like a reaper/scorpion than a dragons breath. Could just be a 7 pot.

You’ll have to taste it raw to know for sure.

Look like Reapers or Scorpions to me.

They look hot AF buddy. I guarantee that’s what they are, too

Would this be considered “Reverse Pepper Joe’d”?

Definitely a superhot monstrosity of some sort. Congrats! (Or sorry, if your heart was set on habs…)

  13. Thanks everyone for the replies. Was planning on using them for vindaloo and pepper jam, but seems I’ll be crying and/or shitting the sun if I go that route. Let me know if y’all have suggestions for someone who doesn’t usually go hotter than habs/scotch bonnets.

  14. Is this a seed raised plant or seedling? Due to the variation of phenos on that plant my vote goes to either scorpions or reapers

hehehe thats some sort of superhot. It only takes one to heat up a pot of food 😈

Those are some mean looking peppers, definitely not a hab

  17. Feeling_Chip_3812

Lol definitely not Habs. Look like reapers

These are some bumpy boys. The middle one bottom of the screen looks like it has some scorpion genes but the other pods disagree so I would think some kind of early stage hybrid. But these fuckers will be much hotter than habaneros regardless of what they are.

Nobbly Nobbly & pointy tail usually means super hot, only burn twice.
