Topic arose in another thread, so I'm posting this to include pics of how to modify the iKamand case/fan so that it can be controlled by the Fireboard Drive 2. The fan fits perfectly, and works better than the original software, because it has speed limits, multi stage programming, and can shut off when the dome opens.
The first pic is not mine, it's what I was copying from another user, but couldn't pull off, so I removed the power cube from the circuit board and added a plug from Amazon.
Not my idea, I'm not that smart or technical. There was a Facebook user group and people explained how to do it, so I copied them. You basically are just creating a plug for the fan wires though, and the rest (light, wifi, probe plugs) of it becomes useless.
The case has 4 screws, remove those, peel off the metal plate and rubber gasket.
Cut the red and black fan wires at the circuit board. There's 2 options for powering the fan:
1 – (easier) drill a small hole in the case and feed the wires through, then add a 5mm female barrel plug and shrink sleeve. The wires are thin, and this could cause strain on their fan connection though.
2 – (more involved, but durable) remove the existing barrel plug cube from the circuit board (I used a dremel) and also remove the round probe plugbehind it. Enlarge the case hole to fit the new plug and add a 5mm female barrel plug (mine came with pigtailed wires and had a threaded mounting base). Solder and shrink sleeve the wires, then put the case back on, so that the wiring is inside and only the receptacle pokes through the case.
You need a double male 5mm plug to connect it to the fire board.
I've been using it for 6 months now, and it's been great.
