Sorry not sorry for the title…anyway… my lower vent door has always been rattly since I bought my C2 a couple of years ago. I am able to put the fire out with the vents closed so I didn’t think it was an issue, but I checked the lower vent on another KJ classic in the shops the other day and it was snug and took a little pressure to actually close it. Should I get in touch with KJ?

Mine is tight to close and takes a little pressure. Seals off perfectly.

I just checked mine since I’m right next to it. It can be wiggled like yours but with 8 years of buildup from ash and probably dust from sitting outside it takes a little more effort. I imagine it’s meant to be somewhat loose so it slides easier. If your coals go out in reasonable time when you close it, it’s certainly not an issue.

The vent on the base that I just received from KJ as a replacement for my Classic I is super loose compared to the one on my old base. Kind of disappointed, tbh.

  4. Mine is that loose, pretty sure it’s supposed to be that way

I bet if you want it tighter you could just take it off and bend those rails in a bit with a pair of pliers

So wd40 here is a terrible idea right? Haven’t done it to be clear but I have this issue and am thinking about doing it

Mine was pretty much like yours and I just cut a couple thin strips of the felt material used on the lid and put it on the track. Nice and snug. I also did that to the vent to seal it up.

I’ve seen people use felt specially if you’re using a fan for tighter control of air intake but that looks normal to me..
