From the Starter to the Finish! Make Homemade Sourdough Bread Without a Dutch Oven!

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked bread, especially when it’s a crusty and flavorful French Sourdough Bâtard. This delicious Bâtard bread, with its characteristic oblong shape and artisanal appearance is made with just a few quality ingredients and some patience! You too can create a sourdough loaf that’s crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and is bursting with a tangy sourdough flavor! And the best part is that you dont need a Dutch Oven!

Ingredients to activate the Starter (1.2.2 Ratio)
* 80g sourdough starter
* 160g unbleached bread flour
* 160g filtered lukewarm water
* A clean jar
* A kitchen scale
* A spatula

Ingredients for making the bread
* 125g active starter
* 325g water
* 500g bread flour
* 15g salt (pink Himalayan or white salt)
* Rice flour (only required if scoring a pattern)

Tools needed
* A kitchen scale
* A dough whisk (or use a wooden spoon or spatula)
* A bench scraper (optional)
* A plastic wrap or cover
* A banneton basket (or use a bowl)
* A scoring blade (or a sharp knife)
* Silicone Mat or Parchment Paper
* A Dutch oven or a Roasting Pan
